Very helpful
I thought the book contained a great deal of information about PCOS. I also like how it gave diagnosis that could be mistaken for or are similar to PCOS. I enjoyed reading about how different natural and herbal supplements can help control or improve many symptoms of PCOS.

Great for introduction to PCOS but more of a workbook for others
I was expecting a little bit more out of this book....it was more of a workbook than a reading book. If you just found out you had pcos this is a great introduction.

The Answer to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Caroline D. Greene has done it again. Her popular "Permanently Beat" series now includes a book on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that is associated with infertility, weight gain, and skin conditions. The eBook begins with an overview of the syndrome, explaining how it is related to the inability to process insulin normally. Greene writes,Resistance to insulin means high levels of glucose and insulin stay in your system. Your ovaries, like a sink with water left running too long, flood your system with an oversupply of the cells, resulting in excess male and female hormones and sometimes cysts. The cysts that form as a result of PCOS cause weight gain by preventing fat stores from burning fat cells as fuel, meaning that the fat begins to accumulate. In some cases, it can cause a variety of skin issues, unwanted hair growth, and infertility. She writes,Even though there is no cure yet for PCOS, you can live a fulfilled, happy life by treating [your] symptoms and living a lifestyle of regular exercise and healthy diet. She goes on to mention that Jillian Anderson, the celebrity personal trainer, is one of the thousands of women who have PCOS but do not let it determine their lives or their weight. Seven warning signs of PCOS are provided, along with a "PCOS pop quiz" to determine the reader's likelihood of having the syndrome. Here we find the familiar "quiz you don't want to do well on;" it's a slightly hackneyed approach, but it does help one recognize whether she has PCOS or something else entirely. Greene then explains that managing your weight through diet and exercise is a key part of avoiding this condition; heavier weight can trigger the syndrome or increase the severity of its symptoms. There is a very good section on the emotional aspects of PCOS, which are quite real and can be life-disrupting. Greene writes,The visible effects of PCOS make it one of the most emotionally frustrating hormone disorders out there. Obesity, in an era where ads, movies and billboards make being skinny the pinnacle of success, is hard. The excessive hair growth in areas where men would typically have hair can cause women with PCOS to feel self-conscious and unfeminine. This is helpful validation for women who may be suffering from this syndrome. One of the most significant sections of the book follows: Becoming Pregnant despite Higher Rate of Infertility with PCOS. It is filled with particularly useful information for women with PCOS who may be struggling to become pregnant. The remainder of the book is devoted to risk factors for PCOS, diagnosing the syndrome, and treating it.Permanently Beat PCOS is a lucid guide to the syndrome, its causes and symptoms, and its treatment. Those who are suffering from its various symptoms--especially those attempting to become pregnant--will find the book most helpful; and informative.

Information was not anything I hadn't heard
If you have had PCOS for a while like I have and done some reading on it before, this book will provide you no new information. It took me all of a couple of train rides to and from work to finish it. I felt it could have had more content and more information on diet practices.

disappointed
i was hoping this book would give me some education about living with pcos. it did not to that at all. it took the main facts about pcos that you can google and put them in lame persons terms. for example consume more omega 3 fats, you do this by eating fish or taking a supplement. I was truly disappointed for spending money on this. instead of purchasing this book just type in pcos at google the same info will pop up and its free. this was clearly a cut and paste project.

Lots of Info
I thought the book would be a bit bigger, however it was packed with great information, it is pretty much what you read on most books about PCOS, It is nice though to not have to read a thousand pages to get what you need

Good for a newly diagnosed woman.
Okay, nothing I hadn't already read or discussed with my doctors. A good choice for someone newly diagnosed since it did do a good job of breaking things down into simpler terms.

Not worth it.
Very little info for the buck! Google will tell you more. Not worth purchasing.

Lightweight, adds no value
More like a magazine article than a book. If you want specific authoritative advice buy something else. The level of its content in no way delivers what the title of the book states. It includes advice on the level of 'eat appropriate portion sizes'.

Not worth
It is not worth the price. I regret buying it.

Bought for a friend
Thought it would be a hard back, but I'm following the advice and BP is down, I'm losing weight steadily, everything seems to be looking up, even the gp is happy with my progress. But mainly I have a better understanding of my problem.
