I have recently been buying some POWERPRO 1 1/2" #8 exterior (corrosion resistant) wood screws supplied by Hillman on Amazon. I have been pleased by the quality despite having a few be unusable because the Torx T20 bit wouldn't engage the screw because the corrosion coating was too thick. Others have mentioned this also. The last screws I got were 1 3/4" and, despite them being listed as Torx T20 I was surprised to see that they were T25, as was the included bit. The interesting thing is that I found out that the screw would stay in the bit so you could easily drive it one handed, which sometimes is very handy, like when you are on a ladder, or reaching to drive it. So far I haven't found one that doesn't mate with the bit. Since the listing is wrong in that it says these are T20 I wanted to be sure I could get T25's the next time I ordered. I called Hillman and found out that they had changed from T20 to T25 a while ago. The latter are denoted with a product number ending in "V". Sure enough, when I checked the listing for the 1 3/4 " screws , listed as T20, I saw under "Product Details" the item number 48596V. I suspect they changed from T20 to the larger T25 to solve the bit /screw interference problem.

Good quality and works well for deck screws.

I love this brand of screws. They have held up very well and we continue to use them to replace our old screws when we replace boards.

Bought these to re-secure a deck railing cap that was warping and coming loose - removed the existing screws, clamped the railing down tightly and drove two of these into the railing and down into the post - voila! All done! Months later it's still holding tight! Love the star drive feature, too - good contact and doesn't strip, and that they provide you with a bit tip in the event you don't have one.

Great screws for the price. I use these on all of my projects. Excellent coating to prevent rust.
