Yuppie Puppy Harness - The best
Got our first puppy about a month ago (I say puppy, but we rescued him when he was about 11 months old). Shepard/Lab mix, he is small though, only about 45 pounds. The rescue gave us one of these to take home. Because Ryan (our dog) wasn't familiar with us, it was a huge pain in the butt getting him to relax long enough to get this harness on. So when we finally got in on, we decided to leave it on him. Bad move on our part. The first night we had him he was in his crate, and I thought he was chewing on the toy we got him. I was wrong. He spent the whole night tearing through the heavy nylon part of the harness. When did I notice it? When I took him out on the harness in the morning, and after about 5 minutes outside, I saw the damage. I tell you this story because even with one of the sides completely disconnected, my dog was still secured in the harness. There are many great parts about this harness. First is the padding for under the dogs legs (armpits, however you want to describe it). It doesn't "cut" into the dog or irritate the area. Second, the only adjusting you need to do is on the piece that goes over the dogs head. It's only 2 adjustments, as opposed to most other harnesses, where you need to adjust at least 4 areas to make sure it is securely tightened (which could make you take it on and off many more times than you care to do). Once its on, its as simple as sliding the tightener down which secures the harness around the dogs entire body (a fit that is MUCH better than the more expensive harnesses). And because of the way that it "hugs" the dog, its almost impossible for the dog to "back out" of it. Trust me, at first, Ryan wanted NOTHING to do with coming into my car, into my house, into his crate. You get the picture. He would buck pretty aggressively and I was never worried that he was getting out. And this harness is much less bulky than others. I know because I had bought a harness from the brand that starts with a "K" before we picked Ryan up, and it proved to be triple the price, and inferior in quality and functionality.I was very happy that Amazon had these. They were not sold in the major stores anymore. I really don't know why, because for $10 bucks they really can't be beat. Obviously leaving the harness on overnight was just a rookie mistake on our part, so don't let my story in the beginning of this review scare you away. If anything, it should make you more confident in your decision to purchase this. I bought two so I could keep one in the house and one in the car. Prime shipped and arrived in 2 days.

Works very well for me and my bird dog
I purchased this in 2014 for my gordon setter puppy, who is now nearly 5 years old. In the interim, we've enjoyed miles and miles of off-leash hikes and bikes in the forest, as befits his bird dog nature. Unfortunately, he did a little tweak of his doggie ACL and he's now on leash walks for a couple months. I think many "solutions" to dogs pulling on leash are for dogs walking on suburban sidewalks - the owner wants to convey "I'm walking you, so don't think about taking any initiative". However, I want to rein in my bird dog, just enough so we can have a pleasant walk together on leash without throwing out my back and shoulder. For me and my dog, this product works very well. I am following some good advice: walk fast (so the dog does feel a need to pull you along); switch directions often (so the dog doesn't assume we're going "full speed ahead"); and reward regularly at your leg. I don't think a chest or muzzle attaching leash would provide the continuity between our off leash walks (he is free to explore) and on leash walks (where we need to find a middle ground). Four stars because it's not a perfect solution, but I surely have no pain after a walk.

Excellent mesh-style dog harness & reasonably priced
Yuppie Puppy's mesh style harnesses are versatile, durable, reasonably priced, easy to clean, and most importantly our dogs seem to like them. We've had one for five years that was STILL running strong after daily use, puddle jumping, beach and ocean frolics, etc. After routine washing by hand and setting out to dry, it may have lost it's shimmer and sparkle, but it's truly no worse for wear.Once you get the sizing adjusted, which is easy enough, using a little common sense or by reading the enclosed instructions, you're all set - the harness thereafter goes on and comes off in a matter of seconds, depending on you and/or your dog.Size-wise, our dogs are on the medium side. They are mixed breeds from a rescue shelter, a beagle/basset hound and a small part-retriever mutt, weighing approx 38 and 24 lbs respectively. It's a matter of taste, but we also like the simple, solid black color of the harnesses. They easily fold/collapse for travel, packing, etc. And, while many sturdy dog harnesses feature leather, vinyl, colored nylon, puffy, foamy and/or fluffy and furry coat-like features, those products cost anywhere from a little to a LOT more than these basic Yuppie Puppy harnesses, which, for us and our dogs, get the job done just as well, perhaps even better. On the other side of the spectrum, through the years we've also purchased and tried some very inexpensive, simple, allegedly choke-free dog harness products, but none of them "worked" for us or our dogs.

Finally my 7 month old puppy stopped pulling
This is the only item that has finally stopped our Sheepadoodle from pulling on walks, and while in stores she no longer tries to jump on people. She could pull a sled in the Iditarod with a regular collar on her.Its super easy to put on her and she has long hair which hasn't been a problem with this harness. We tried the one that goes over the nose and she only wants to get it off by rolling on the ground. With this harness, she walks normally. The part that goes around her legs is well padded so it seems to very comfortable for her.It even works great with our retractable leash. The retractable leash doesnt exert enough pressure to pull on it. Only when I push the leashes button does this harness pull the leads and stops her immediately. Its finally a pleasure to take my puppy on long walks.I highly recommend this for older people that dont want to get pulled to the ground.I would give this 10 stars if I could!!!
