Bacon Spread - The Bacon Jams Red Chile & Garlic- 2 Pack of 8.5 oz Jars

Though I generally review entertainment products on Amazon I do occasionally review food products and this weekends I discovered this wonderful new product while visiting the annual Christmas Market at City Hall in Philadelphia.The company (it’s a small family owned business in West Chester, PA) has three varieties and I got all three (A new variety is die in December I’m told).Now, I have to say upfront that my palate is very sensitive to spicy (pepper or chili laden) products, so I generally products with those ingredients. But the “original” flavor (which has zero pepper) was so tasty – and Michael, the owner, said that the “Black Pepper” and “Garlic and Chili” were Very mild, so I gave them a chance. I’m sharing this info here for those here who, like me, are sensitive to spice.So here’s the deal: The Original is amazing and for ANYONE who loves the taste of bacon! Bacon is the FIRST ingredient. And a little goes a long way. I’ve had it so far on an omlette (after cooking), a piece of rye toast with a slice of cheese, and I even used to dip with pretzel crisps. (The latter did taste a bit too salty, but that’s the chip’s fault, not the bacon spread.While I’m mentioning salt, this product is surprisingly low in sodium with just 90mg in a TABLEspoon. (and you will probably use a TEAspoon or less when spreading on things. And calories? Just 50 !After trying the Original, I tried the “Black Pepper” variety. I have to honestly say it did leave some heat on my tongue and I would suggest that sensitive palates choose the original. (Really, the pepper is only different ingredient. But if you aren’t sensitive, go for it!The third variety was the “garlic and chili”. I thought that would be even spicier than the Black Pepper one but it wasn’t. The chili pepper is the LAST ingredient and, while hit did have a “warm taste” when I tried it on a plain cracker, when I put on another omelet or spread on some rye bread and topped with boiled ham, I tasted the sweetness, but the heat didn’t come through to bother me.There seem to be a lot of “Bacon related” products out. I see them at the New York Fancy Food Show every year. There are bacon flavored cookies, popcorn, chocolates and even cocktails. But this is best and most versatile condiment I’ve tasted yet.The jars are 8.5 oz and are shelf stable until opened. This spread is amazing!I bought this for my sister in law who is going to culinary school and is also a fellow bacon lover.She invited me over to try some of her homemade focaccia bread and we used this spread on it....alls i have to say is OMG!this made my mouth so dang happy....words can not describe!The taste is not spicy as you might expect it to be seeing "red chilli and garlic" on the front label...infact on the spice hotness scale i would say this is VERY mild. the flavor though is simply amazing...almost like a really good super slow roasted smoky BBQ...not like the cheap bbq sauce i mean a REAL BBQ the slow roasted takes days to build up layers of flavor kind.I've found so many uses for this spread toast, steak, chicken, eggs, breakfast sandwiches and so much more.... i don't think there is much this wouldn't be able to go on!PLEASE add this to your cart RIGHT NOW i swear that you will not be disappointed! in fact order double! This product was a gift to my husband. He really likes it on ham and cheese sandwiches. He did note that there is a sweet taste to it, but I pointed out to him that it IS "jam". Other than that comment, I have only heard good things about this product from him! He loves the bacon flavor and enjoys having something different to put on his sandwiches (usually uses honey mustard).Overall, we recommend this product.I purchased this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.
