Industrial Machinery Repair: Best Maintenance Practices Pocket Guide (Plant Engineering)

It has a lot of the basics, a good on-hand tool.
This book has a lot of good basic topics such as different types of bearings, couplers, basic motor types, hydraulic and lubricating systems and compressor types. It also has installation tips for some equipment, and a good guide to implementing an organized and working preventative maintenance program in the workplace. The seven assessments in the beginning of the book are useful for self-evaluation or employee evaluation. I have a feeling that this book will be most helpful as a pocketbook when I am on the job and need some information on something basic or when I need some help troubleshooting a problem and can use the many troubleshooting tables available in the book. This book does not contain any electrical troubleshooting or information. A great on-hand tool for all industrial maintenance personnel!

Excellent Quick Resourse on Industrial Machine Repair+
For a paperback, this is top quality information, for plant operators. However, this book may be too basic for some plant engineers.I think many shop operators will find this book ,an excellent resourse guide for machine repair. It helped me understand reduction of machine fatigue and obtaining peak reliabilty. The proper maintenance of machines, eliminates unnessary repair tasks and unwanted expenses on the balance sheet. Each chapter has a test and an answer key at the end of the book. The book helped me visualize procedures. Answered many questions about reading concise data for avoiding adverse conditions, spotting defects and reducing machine downtime. It's one of the best user-friendly guides for industrial machine repair.

good reference for machine designers in a lab environment
This book has served me well, to identify sources of problems in new rotating machine design, in the lab. It is really for preventative maintenance programs, but that is sort of what we do in development of new machines. A handy reference to have.

Good for entry level and intermediate mechanics
I would have given this 5 stars however it does not cover pneumatic systems and vacuum pumps, but in a book of this scope, they cram a lot of good information into a small package. Good for entry level and intermediate maintenance mechanics and good reference for the seasoned veteran. The company I work for saw it and ordered three or four copies to use in training. Well written and easy to read.

A TOOL BOX MUST HAVE !!!!!
After working in the Trades most of my adult life (20yrs) and in a managers position for almost 1/2 of those years, I found this book very informative and based on ,experiance very accurate , even the parts I truly did not want to admit to myself. A great book for any level of trades and even those that overlook and are responsible for the production side of industry definatly will give insight into how the other side works. Thanks Ricky Smith for your insight and commitment to very accurate down to earth information for guys like me and those that are yet to come.

Sugerencia al envío.
El libro es excelente. Sólo que llegó muy levemente maltratado debido seguramente al manejo en la mensajería. Sugiero protección adicional, por ejemplo hacer el envío en caja y no en sobre.
