Excellent upgrade to a classic design
My 7 yr old kiddo came to me asking for some "Master Pack" of yoyos he saw being hawked by some youtuber with a cut of the profits - $40 for 3 yoyos seemed like a big up front investment for what would probably become paperweights in short order, so I did some digging. The 'main' yoyo in the Master Pack was essentially a Duncan clone with a bearing added to the center spindle, so I searched "yoyo with bearing" and found this one for less than 5 bucks. He loves it! Super easy to sleep, and spins for a LONG time, so it's much more forgiving for learning tricks. He's having fun and working his way up to being able to do the tricks he would need a specialty yoyo for (DNA is the one he keeps talking about). Might get one for myself now since I have to cut a foot off the string for him and I learned my lesson after bashing my shin so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Duncan Butterfly XT Yo-Yo – 5/5 Stars
I grew up with yoyos and hadn’t picked one up in about a decade, but with twin eight-year-old boys now, I figured it was time to get back into it. For the price, this Duncan Butterfly XT is hands down one of the best yoyos out there. Duncan is always reliable, and the Butterfly is a classic. The ball bearings are great—it spins forever! My kids love it too, even though they’re just starting out. If you’re looking for a solid yoyo that won’t break the bank, this is a fantastic choice.

Pretty simple and fun
I met a kid on the street with one of these and had some fun so I figured, at the price point, why not give it a try. The yoyo itself is nothing special. But I knew that going in. I was looking for a fun plastic, that was responsive. The narrow bearing works well for what it is (I actually wound up putting it on a offstring yoyo that had a pretty horrible bearing in it and it brought that throw back to life). The yoyo is pretty smooth on the string and for simple tricks (rolls, brain twister, picture tricks etc...) works alright. After a couple layers of string, it dies quickly or tries to bind back. It has a starburst response which is unpredictable and pretty terrible, but I knew that going in too. Overall, if you are brand new, or maybe a kid looking for a step up from a classic imperial or butterfly, it is not a bad way to go. I also have a yoyo factory whip which is maybe a little better (due to response) but also somewhat less stable. I'd definitely buy this throw for someone else who was just trying to get going. A next step from this if you want to stay plastic, or stay with Duncan, would be the flipside. That was my first step up from fixed axle and it took me a long way. It too has short comings but it has a decent response and helped me take the step from responsive to non responsive.

Great Throw!!!
I love it!! I learned The Trapeze in about a hour of messing around with it. Long sleep times will make learning more tricks easier. It has already been snowing here. I shall spend Winter practicing my throwing! This is Throw number four. I have an Imperial, a Dragonfly, a Hornet and this Butterfly xt. Time for a carrying case! Thanks!!

Good Yo-Yo for $5. Solid Yo-Yo for those starting to learn how to Yo-Yo
I was a kid back in the 90s and had an Original Butterfly back then. I thought it was the best Yo-Yo I owned at the time. I had a lot of crappy Duncan Yo-Yos as a kid until I got the Original Butterfly. This version of the Butterfly, the Butterfly XT, is the 3rd version of the Butterfly that Duncan has made. They had a 2016 version that is similar to this new 2019 Butterfly XT. Both the 2016 and 2019 versions look similar in terms of body design, but they have different cap art.I enjoyed playing with the new 2019 Butterfly XT. It is able to do the basic tricks I was able to do as a kid, which were:1.Sleep the Yo-Yo2. Walk the Dog3. Rock the Cradle4. Around the WorldIn terms of what YouTubers can do this Yo-Yo can also do advanced tricks. It's not a competition Yo-Yo, or a Yo-Yo to do really crazy stuff on, but it will get the job done on many tricks. From beginner tricks to advanced ones, and it only costs $5, which is insane. If you want something more advanced the Duncan Hornet is $12.99, so there are other higher-end options out there, but if you're looking for a solid cheap Yo-Yo the Butterfly XT should be able to hold you over for hours on end.

What's up with the colors?
This thing is amazing. They took the classic butterfly design and gave it an interchangeable barring. What is there not to like about that. What I don't understand and most likely ever will. Is WHY THE COLORS ARE SO AWFUL?!?! I don't get this, what was wrong with the translucent colors of the original model? These things would have been completely epic if they would have just kept the color line up the same as the original and just gave it an updated logo.At any rate if you can get past the unpleasant visuals it's a must buy.

Just okay
Okay yo-yo - pretty much dollar store quality, could be better in my opinion

Improved Butterfly XT
Butterfly XT, flanked by the Pulse and Hornet. All Duncan famous quality, with axle bearings for 10X the spin time for tricks. The XT is excellent for beginners, with its wide gap to handle bad throws, but designed for intermediate players, for more advanced tricks. All have great prices.
