VERY NICE CHILLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a high quality, solidly made item from Koolance. It is all metal on the outside, including the air vents on both sides. It weighs around 50 lbs before filling thereservoir. Many different configuration modes can be applied and displayed on the screen.............I just happen to be using the liquid /ambient temps on my display, but it can be program with other things like pump speed, flow rate, ext. temp and so on. Or you can use 'cyclic' mode and it will rotate through all the measurements. It's fairly quiet, like the hum of a small fridge. I have a bunch of cooling fans in my rig which drown out the sound anyway. :)The sound that may be noticed the most is the clicking of the compressor coming on and off, but after a while you get use to it. Also, I'm only using pump speed #1, so that in itself makes the machine produce less noise, but as you increase the pump level, the chiller gets a bit louder......not by much, but just something to keep in mind.I used 4 of the Koolance 702(700ml) coolant and this filled the reservoir in-between the max/min fill line on the back panel, so if you want to fill the reservoir closer to maximum, you will need more coolant. Keep in mind that only the Koolance coolant can be used to keep the manufacturer's warranty intact. Once the chiller is filled your ready to go. The instructional manual is ok, but not great..........it took a while to understand how to configure the unit. My chiller is under my writing desk while the rig is on another desk so I had to attach about 7 feet of tubing from the chiller to the back of the rig. I used an Alphcool PCI bracket slot cover to connect the tubing and also put in some inline Koolance quick disconnectors to disconnect the chiller. A bit of nervous time when the switch was turned on because it takes the chiller about 2-3 seconds before it starts crankin'. :)I have the chiller set to minus 5 below ambient, so that works fine for me, but I'm just cooling the CPU and two kingpin 980 TI (in sli). This keeps the main card at around 28-30 degrees Celsius and the other card at around 25 degrees. (ultra settings) You just want to be careful not to take the chiller temp too far below the ambient, so as to avoid condensation. The unit does produce a fair amount of heat out of the condenser cooling fans, so that's something to keep in mind.I think the exc-450 chiller would have worked just fine for my needs, but since the price is basically the same, I figured why not just get the larger unit. And once the power supply is purchased for the 450, your almost looking at the same price.Remember, no fittings are included, so they must be purchased separately. The chiller is working great right now and at such a huge price tag, I hope it continues to do so. It would have been nice to get at least a 2 year warranty instead of one, but I guess you can't have everything.I'm happy with the purchase and will keep my fingers crossed that all will continue to be well.

Great chiller
I've had various liquid cooling solutions over the years. I had never had a *chilled* liquid cooler though, and this did not disappoint. The EXC-800 is not cheap, but it IS a workhorse. It will cool your loops down, even if the CPU, GPU, Northbridge and RAM are on the same circuit (as mine are). If you need a chiller for your liquid cooling needs, the Koolance will be a great investment.
