I have owned this now for 2 months and waited to write this review so I had time to truly test this out. I was reluctant to purchase a lower priced automatic feeder, as most of the others I saw were $100+. This product truly is a lifesaver!!! Not only was it reasonably priced, it delivers better than others for double the cost! Programming took me about 15 minutes to set up, program and record a greeting. I have programmed it to feed 2x a day for 1 serving. Each "serving" equates to about 1/4 a cup. I was leery to count on this and was even late to work a few days just to make sure the food dispensed as programmed before I left. I've been around on weekends, etc and it has always worked and I now have full confidence in it. I don't feel bad when I work late or have plans that overlap with normal feeding times for my cat. The introduction period only lasted a few days as he couldn't figure out why I wasn't personally feeding him but I started over a weekend and stood by it while it dispensed so he felt the connection and then a few days later he was fine with it. My cat also tried endlessly to get his paw in there to get more food out and a few pieces have fallen but I believe they were still stuck from the last feeding. He has not been able to freely get "more" food out than I've allowed. I would recommend this to anyone!! I also programmed my voice and it is a little muffled but if you speak slow and clear enough, it does work. So very happy with this purchase!

Just what I needed. This is perfect for those days when I arrive home late (usually 3 or 4 days out of the week) and unable to feed my small pets on time. Notice how I mentioned small pets. I have pets who are less than 20 pounds. This is probably not good for large pets since they can just knock this dispenser down and make a mess out of the dry food. Alright... So yeah, programming and setting the feeding times were easy. I set mine to two feeding times: one in the morning and one in the evening. It also has a setting for how much dry food you would want to dispense. Another neat thing with this dispenser is it can record your voice so your pets know that it's feeding time. It runs on 3 D-size batteries. Not sure why they did 3, but I would've preferred an even number since batteries are typically sold in pairs or in even numbers and not in odd numbers. I've had this since the beginning of 2016 and haven't replaced the batteries yet. There is also a battery power level indicator to let you know if the batteries are almost drained. Highly recommend this pet food dispenser.

Update to my original review 3/17: After owning the item for 5/6 months, it no longer dispenses the food. Found out when I came back from being out of town and my cats had zero food for 2 days while I was gone. The machine acted like it was dispensing but the food become stuck inside. After taking the item apart and seeing that I was not able to unlodge the blocked food I was very disappointed. Now I am having to search for a new item that won't clog.Previous review 9/16: I like the fact that my cats have food when needed. Saves me having to worry if they have enough when out of town at times. Well worth the money - not worth spending BIG bucks on machines when this works so well.

I was nervous leaving my cat Charlie home alone for the holidays and this thing saved me! Now I use it all the time and never have to think about feeding her. Its also great for portion control. If your cat is fat, this will help. I no longer over feed my cat. The settings are easy and great. You can even leave a voice recording for them to feel like your with them! Great Purchase.

This, along with the ceramic water fountain, is probably the best purchase I've made in the past six month. My work hours are always subjective to change and it's comforting for me and consistent for my cats to have them fed at the same time a few times a day. This has allowed me to break their total food into three small portions so both have a chance to eat enough without my growing and over-confident boy cat to inhale it all before my girl cat gets any.Only reason I gave four stars and not five is because the bowl that the kibble falls into is easily lifted off the main dispenser and my boy somehow manages to remove it weekly, which leaves food all over the floor. But not a major problem, and it holds a lot of food so overall this has been an excellent purchase.

It works, but is not consistent in dishing the food out. The mechanism isn't perfect so that some meals half or less of the intended food comes out, and then the following meal more than the portion of intended food is dispensed. But it works well enough that my cat wont starve, and was relatively inexpensive compared to the other offerings on Amazon, so it stays for now.

I waited to write a review to see how it held up. My 20 lb siamese named catdog has not damaged it unlike horror stories I have read. The top piece is thin plastic but still works well. I live with my grandparents so my cats with me 24/7, I recommend not using the voice feature if it is located where you sleep lol I wish it was able to program times to eat instead of pre-selected ones since he starts waking me up between 3-5 for food. Eventually I trained him to wait for the noon meal drop and it has worked well. It also is loud enough in a single room for food to be heard as it occasionally drops non scheduled meals. I also recommend weighing and watching over them to monitor exactly how much food they take in. I got this to help him to lose weight yet he gained before we got it tweaked. Pretty easy set up as I spent the extra money to avoid a timer. All in all, I would buy it again.P.S., comes in a great "cat" box so unload it fast or you will have a cat on top of the rest of the pieces in the box before you can turn back around! :)

This automatic feeder is amazing! It works as described, and feeds our cat while we are away, at set times. I love that it dispenses 1/4 cup, so our cat cannot eat too much at once. The hopper holds enough food for several weeks, unlike my previous one with only 6 compartments.For the price, this was a bargain; I only wish I had purchased it sooner!
