I originally bought this product because it offered HDMI extension using dual Cat5e cables and an extended range. The previous owner of our home had used similar units (different manufacturer) to extend his HDMI from an AV closet, but took the extenders with him. As this was one of the few that used a dual Cat5e, offered an extended range, and had a powered receiver, I was thinking I had found the perfect solution.The first unit worked great for three days before the receiver could no long pick up the signal. LED went out and neither powering down & up or disconnecting and reconnecting corrected the issue. Amazon shipped a replacement, I installed it, and it worked for 10 days. After the first time it dropped the signal, I powered it off and on and it reconnected. It worked for another 2 days after that before the signal dropped, never to recover. Powering it off and on just caused the LED to blink once and the the unit was dead again. Returned the second unit for a refund.I really wanted to like this product because of the capability, range, and price, but after two consecutive failed units, I would advise others to steer clear.

My daughter broke her laptop screen and I was able to use this to get her by until I could order and install a replacement screen. I used two 30 ft cat 5e cables I made myself to connect her laptop via an hdmi port to her TV on the other side of the room. She was able to sit at her desk with the laptop and do her homework using the TV. It looked just like her PC screen just bigger...she now wants to keep it so she can play moves from her laptop. I would by it again.

I bought the product and when installed, there was no image. Perhaps default product, I returned it back and ordered a new one. The second time, I had the image, but the sound the sound is discontinued and is cut.
