Reliable pump motor
This is my third pump motor in 19 years. They last a long time and produce a lot of power, like the original one.For those of you who have had problems with premature failure, and/or low flow, check your voltage at the pump, and preferably under load! I have 240 volts and I use 10 or 12 gauge wire, depending on distance. Please keep in mind, for every 100’ of cumulative run you lose a full gauge value. This means if a 12 gauge wire was required, you now need a 10 gauge wire in order to maintain 20 amps without any significant voltage drop.My previous pump just needed a new capacitor and ran like new again, but I could not afford to wait, so it became a spare. Incidentally, the old pump sounded like it had a bearing failure when the capacitor went down, but that was not the case.

Customer Service
I have gone through several AO Smith/Century pumps over the years. The last on only lasted 7 months and I inquired with Century on warranty and they stated the “authorized dealer/ VM Express” is responsible to handle all warranty returns. VM then referred me to the 3rd party distribution center who was rather perturbed that VM keeps handing out their number. Long story short VM not taking any responsibility for warranty. I was able to talk to technician at Century and have a handle on how to prevent the problem I experienced. So good pump and promp service from VM Express as long as nothing goes wrong with warranty!!

Underpowered
Bought this motor as a replacement for a different 1.5hp Century motor. Figured it was the same but clearly HP is overstated. I did strobe tach the shaft on a bench test and it was 3450 per the tag, however this pump moves about 25% less water than the same rates Century pump it replaced. I should have noticed this pump only had a single start/run capacitor vs separate like the other. I have thought about returning but decided to replace bearings in my other motor and just use this on a spare pump when needed. Btw, the impeller was not changed as it was the same Hayward part number. All this said, the pump is quiet but it's not hard to beat that with the bearings that failed in my old pump.

Easy Install
My current motor started to humming and after replacing the capacitor and switch, it still did not work. I ordered this new motor and it came in quick! I looked up the installation on youtube and I was able to do it in an hour.
