It works like a champ!
This is my first time using the plasma tech air purifier, and I cannot tell you how happy I am. We live in an on-going construction zone, so the air quality is not good. But, I can tell that this air purifier does what it is supposed to. The air inside my house has very clean since I started using this product. Highly recommended!

Initial thoughts
This is a review for FXJ80UW. I have had a FPA80UW for around 10 years. I broke it, and it won't turn on, so it was time to get a replacement. The FXJ80UW is only an inch deeper and several inches taller than the FPA, so if the space wasn't tight, it'll be able to fit in the same spot.IMPORTANT: I didn't really buy the purifier for the filters. I ran mine filterless and only got it for the Plasmacluster(positive ion) generator, because I perceived it to help me. Sharp has standalone Plasmacluster units, but I thought an air purifier MIGHT have better generators, and Sharp isn't particularly informative about these. After receiving the unit, I don't believe it's any better, because the generator on it is quite small.I briefly explored the NA website, and the FXJ is the only air purifier they sell here that has the 25k plasmacluster series. It basically means more than the regular 7k series. But if you just want the plasmaclusters, it's probably better to just get the standalone generators. The filter system is very bare bones. The pre-filter seems to be integrated with the carbon, with a supposedly vacuum-able HEPA behind. The carbon filter is very thin, with carbon pellets in little slots that don't fill to the top. I run 20 pounds of carbon for my purifier, so the carbon sheet is a joke. The filter compartment is too small for you to add a makeshift filter. Basically, it's just a blower for a HEPA filter. The filter compartment is in the back of the unit, and there's a thin output slot in front, and an indented output on top. The design doesn't make any sense. The FPA had front loaded filters, which made it easier to access. Honestly, the output location for an air purifier mostly doesn't matter, but this unit happened to be great for me. The thin front outlet is perfect for fitting a tray/plate/lid that can be filled with liquid, which I use to disperse vinegar into the air(if you know, you know), and it does this very well. The indented back outlet is great for placing small, contaminated objects for pre-treatment.The controls are a step up from the FPA, as in, it doesn't have mushy buttons, but it's somewhat unconventional. The buttons are on the top, but the display is on the front, so you need to be at 2 different angles, which makes it a little hard to use. You have to have the unit turned off to actually change the settings, and it's not self-explanatory, so you have to find the function descriptions from the manual. Fortunately, the settings are retained even if you unplug the power. To summarize, this happens to have features that are perfect for me, but I would not recommend it for an air purifier, and not the best model if you just want plasmacluster.A final word on Plasmacluster. Yes, it works. It won't miraculously clear smoke from the air. It is like an active, mild scrubber. You can't really tell it's working while it's working, but you'd notice the difference when it's not in use.

Super quiet and easy to use
I never paid much attention for the need for air purifier until the smoke from all the fire in the west where my family and I live. Instantly, I picked 2 of the top of the line of air purifiers by the brand I can trust for its state of the art innovation and technology and reliability: FXJ80U by SHARP. They are well worth paying premium for great technology that will last: I am especially enthusiastic about the SHARP Plasmacluster technology that generates ions that actively eliminates microscopic pollutants. And the double filter system using HEPA filter gives me sense of peace of mind. For example, according to PC magazine, NASA study found that HEPA filters can capture almost 100 percent of particles as small as 0.01 micrometers (or 10 nanometers), well exceeding the standard. To put that in perspective, COVID-19 is about 60 to 140 nanometers in diameter. It’s easy to set up and get going. I am sensitive to noise and this product is super quiet which I love. The app is convenient to use and also love using Alexa to change settings. The 2 air purifiers I bought have been magnificent for me and family, and have been recommending my colleagues to buy SHARP air purifier FXJ80U.

It’s ok, but advanced
I think they should not say this item can connect to WiFi because the set up process is impossible. The air filter is great and the ions definitely make a difference. The buttons are a bit confusing and the app is absolutely awful. I thought people were being dramatic, they weren’t.

UNNECESSARILY EXPENSIVE
Ok purifier with very expensive short life filthers that are extremely hard to find in stock.... also If something goes wrong, customer service is garbage!! a lot better options with better prices for the hathaspace purifiers.

Pretty Good
Its pretty good. The only thing its lacking is a low-medium mode. Low is too low for some situations. Its very quiet but medium is too strong. The connection process was a nightmare. Had to connect my girlfriend's phone to my phone using a mobile hotspot snd then manually enter my router. If you had a non-mesh router with iPhone it might be easier. Without the iPhone it wouldn't have been possible. It took about 3-4 hours to figure it out and im not that tech illiterate.

Why does Amazon put all the Sharp purifiers all together in the ratings. They are all different.
This is the new Sharp FXJ80UW only.. The control panel is a total mess. Still have not figured out how to change but a few things like the fan speed. A lot of sharp filters last up to 5 years,,this one is just 2 years. I have several Sharp Air purifiers, this one has the smallest Hepa filter that's probably why it has a 2 year filter. Has a lot of features but very complicated. Almost every button on the control panel has several different things to control ??? What good are all the different functions if no one can figure out how to use them. Very expensive for what you get. Not worth 600plus dollars. Can't believe they have such a small Hepa filter on this top of the line purifier, guess they spent all the money on the complicated control panel. Only displays Temp. humidity, pm2,one at a time by pushing the button several times, another design flaw. I would not buy again for the price, i would buy another cheaper Sharp air purifier. With just about as much CADR. I did not buy this from Amazon.
