Don’t Belive the Negative Reviews
So there are a lot of reviews on here saying the white cermaic striker is “plastic”, it’s fairly thin which makes it feel pretty light but IT IS NOT PLASTIC! I use it to start fires all the time and it is absolutely CERAMIC. As with any ferro cerium rod, the black rod piece requires the outer coating to be scrapped off before it causes sparks. I have started fires with the jute cord used as a tag holder, a tinderquick fire tinder, and even just Kleenex. It absolutely works and starts a fire. As with any thin leather cordage, the leather probably won’t last forever. If it does break I would recommend replacing it with SurvivorCord paracord from Titan Survival which contains jute cord for fire starting, fishing line & copper snare wire inside the cord. If you’re not comfortable with having such a strong cord around your neck i would recommend plastic break away necklace clasp also found on Amazon. I usually don’t write review but it irks me to see people who don’t understand the materials bring down the rating of this product and the reputation of the company.

Works great, looks even better!
This is a other home run for wazoo. Yes it works fantastic. I have over a dozen ferro fire rods for many applications. This tiny combo of ceramic and cerium works really well. For such a tiny and beautiful combo, it throws lots of Sparks. But beyond that, it looks and feel like authentic bush craft. It is a statement of interest and conversational as well as naturally attractive in presentation. I had one of the parachord serated metal neclass strikers, but I didn't wear cause it looked cheap and, well, I worried it would cut me under the wrong circumstances. I still have it, but this magic item is a work of functional art. It pairs well with the whetstone from wazoo and due to the adjustability of both high quality knotted leather chords, they fit nicely around my neck and now I'm off to the jungle. Seriously, this is one of those things you should treat yourself to if you value survival and natural adventures. It also looks great over a T shirt, or in the v of a collared shirt. Be who you are, and buy yourself one today. You may live to tell the tale.

He likes it!
My daughter found this while searching for a gift for her Dad. He's a bit of a fire bug. (Understated.) He has worn it out and about. It's masculine and fashionable. He has used it to light the fireplace a few times even getting a bit scientific about the right medium to use to absorb the spark to get the fire going. So fare a bit of dryer lint worked the best (but he felt that was cheating), so he's tried may other things, chips of wood, saw dust, balled paper, but the next best medium so fare was a bit of shredded paper (like the paper gift basket filler). This gift was a hit.

Go ahead and get several!!
IT'S AWESOME!! A functional piece of survival gear , that's GREAT for EDC and looks great too . When I got mynecklace I was totally surprised at the SHOWER of sparks that this little thing will produce. I've never been a guy that wears necklaces, and thought that I would tire of it quickly and discard to the junk drawer , only to be seen occasionally when rummaging for something .I WAS WRONG!! I love this thing!! It's made of quality leather and is stylish at the same time. It is so lightweight you forget your wearing it. Coupled with the fact that it's basically an "instant emergency fire" makes it even better. If your looking for an AWESOME looking piece of survival gear ,( and don't mind being asked about it ALOT ) , then I highly recommend you get one. WARNING: Be prepared to buy several !! Once your wife and kids see it , you'll be purchasing them their own .

My first of many!
I love this! What a handy little design! Now, to be fair, this shouldn’t be your first flint and steel. I was a scout and I’ve started a few fires with flint and magnesium, so I kind of knew what to do. This serves as a very functional backup that looks great, hardly weighs anything at all, and worked on the third strike. (The more you use a fire steel the more they “break in” so next time I use it, it will strike on the first use) if I could change one thing, I’d recommend a slightly thinner cord, but I know the leather only gets better over time. I know I’ll be buying these as gifts as three of my friends are already jealous and I’ve been wearing it for only two hours.

Great gift, but get an extra one to keep (because you'll want to)!
I bought this as a gift for my intrepid aunt, but then I liked it so much that I kept it for myself! Then, of course, I felt bad and now I'm back online to buy a second one! :-) Besides loving the way it looks--the leather cord is really attractive, as is the whole design--I wanted to try it out to be sure I could actually make it work before giving it as a gift. (That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.) Anyway--I watched the super-helpful online video and was able to make sparks fly on the very first try, inspite of having exactly ZERO experience lighting fires with anything but a match. Great looking, highly functional item, perfect to give as a gift (or keep for yourself). Actually, you might as well buy two right off the bat, because you're going to want to keep one, or people are going to bug you to give them yours. Made by real live people, in the US, with really helpful customer support and an honest lifetime warrantee, to boot. What's not to love??
