This chair is on the small side. I am 5’2” and weigh 139 it is a perfect fit

How wide are the tops of the arm rest ?

I can't tell you exactly, but I think they were about 6 inches or so. Not wide and not padded, but not uncomfortable.

Does the seat itself have metal springs? Or just purely foam? It doesn't cause you butt to hurt for extended seating time?

I think purely foam. The seat is firm, but you can squish down in it, it’s not completely hard, but not completely soft like a fabric type recliner that you sink into. This recliner you don’t sink into, in has firmness. But not to firm, where it’s uncomfortable.
