From November 1975, 'Another Green World' represents the bridge between Brian's ground-breaking pop career and his early experiments with ambient music. This time around he was ably assisted in the studio by Robert Fripp from King Crimson, Phil Collins and Percy Jones from Brand X and, on viola, The Velvet Underground's John Cale. The album features 5 vocal and 9 instrumental songs including the title track which will be known to many as the theme to the BBC arts programme, 'Arena'. This new gatefold 2LP vinyl edition of 'Another Green World' is presented over two 180GM discs which play at 45rpm for optimum sound quality. High resolution mastering from the best known sources and half-speed cutting were supervised by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Each album contains an Obi, Download Voucher and Abbey Road Half Speed Master certificate.

The sonics are great if you can find a clean copy.
This is a great album. But you aren't buying this to find that out. You are buying this because it should sound better than every pressing ever made of this record. It does that. But I had a hard time getting a good copy. The first one I got had warps on both records that were audible on playback. The second one I got had a defect on the 4th side that made a horrible screech. After three purchases of this album I got a clean copy. It sound amazing. It's better than my 80s EG issue. I also purchase the other 3 Eno records in this set. I didn't have a problem with those three. The 45 rpm gives the songs a bit of sizzle that the 33 rpm doesn't have.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
NOTE: I see that amazon for some reason is STILL not separating reviews for CD or LP versions of an album. This review is for the 2017 'Abbey Road Half Speed Master LP.ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. The absolute BEST cut of this album I have ever heard. I wondered if the whole 'abbey road half speed master' thing was just marketing, but this sounds incredible. Didn't see it noted anywhere when I bought them, but they are not only half speed masters, but also 45Rrpm LPs. If you like Eno and have a decent turntable, get them NOW.

Amazing music, great mastering, acceptable vinyl.
The music is beyond reproach (do I even need to say that?). The mastering of this 1/2 speed 45rpm version is excellent and the packaging is great too. The vinyl quality, on the other hand, is not so great: I just got my second copy since the first has a lot of pops and several brief dropouts on the left channel. This copy has only one very brief dropout and a lot fewer pops, but has a big lump in the vinyl on side three that makes "Little Fishes" very hard to listen through, and also a repetitive tick on the following track that sounds like a scratch but is invisible. I just ordered copy #3 and will send back copies 1 and 2 for refunds, keeping whatever combo of the two records sounds best.I also have "Before and After Science" in this series and though it's noisier than I expected, it's much better than this one. I know these were cut on the same lathe and by the same engineer that did the recent Sgt. Pepper's remix which was perfect in every way (at least my copy is), and I presume it was also pressed in the same plant. Not sure why the quality is subpar on these when they did such an amazing job on the Pepper's.... a little disappointing to say the least. (For the record, I've been buying LPs for 40 years and I really don't think I'm being overly picky.)I hope they can do better next time!

Very good album. the music is great, and the vinyl is first rate. Its quiet, and the 45 speed brings out the high quality recording.Highly recomended.

One of my favorite albums ever
One of my favorite albums ever. But this pressing is crap. The vinyl is uneven thickness. It makes the cartridge skip.I have Here Come the Warm Jets too. That sounds fantastic. But the half speed mastering isn't necessary. I have other records that sound even better at 33. And it's super annoying to flip the record after 7 minutes. I won't be buying any of the other ones.

I'm pretty disappointed. The overall sound is very good
I have now listened to HCTWJ and AGW and I must say, I'm pretty disappointed. The overall sound is very good, and I love the 45 rpm mastering. However, at least on my turntable, there is a whole lot of surface noise, especially for a first-time listen. And on my turntable, which is probably average to high end, there is a whole lot of vinyl noise. Despite all the care that was taken in its mastering, this sounds like an inferior pressing, which I definitely was not expecting out of an LP at this price. A lot of noise.

Vinyl re-master review
This is a review of the half-speed re-master re-issue on vinyl. Well, the first issue is does it sound any different/better? I think it does have a warmer, richer sound, but also interestingly picks up some of the weaknesses of the production. Eno himself has said that the production on the original was sometimes a bit low fi. For me, that's not a problem as I like things a bit rough and ready sometimes. There are some interesting surprises in terms of separation - new sounds coming to the fore and sounding crisper, clearer etc. Whether or not it's worth so many of your earth dollars or pounds is another matter. If you have a decent original vinyl copy, I wouldn't bother unless you're an absolute completist. But if, like me, you've never had it on vinyl or your old vinyl is worn out, then it's worth if for sure. Having it on 45rpm is another consideration, as it could be a bit of a faff on turntables where you have to change the settings, but unless you're going to play it a lot, I don't think that's a real issue. Splitting it up into four sides makes you reconsider the album but also breaks up what is a very nice and cohesive flow if you listen on CD. On the whole, glad I got it but not sure I'd get the others for this price, and certainly won't be throwing away my CD. Whatever you decide, the music itself (after all the most important thing) is and will remain top notch.

Assuming you love this LP (and I do) then this double 45 ...
Assuming you love this LP (and I do) then this double 45 rpm edition is probably a 'must have'. Even on my relatively modest stereo set-up the recording reveals a huge range and depth of sound that CD and digital formats don't.

All beautiful pressings and all sound great
i have bought all four of these 45 rpm Eno reissues cut by Miles Showell and mastered at half-speed. All beautiful pressings and all sound great. I could not be happier.
