I liked the book!
Norman Vincent hill recommend that I read something bout Mahalia Jackson so I did. I was amazed thatShe knew what she wanted to do and did not let anyone stop her. Also everything she did she did to her best.

Not good
This book is not good and the author seemed like she or he just edited and did not check it. This might be the worst book ever read no offence. It stinks with a capital S. It was also boring with a capital B. It seems you did not check it seems you just did a sloppy copy. I never read anything this sloppy.

Well-written and edited and educational
I read the prior review and I am baffled. When I read the book, I did not find a single typographical or grammatical error, so I really was misled by the unfavorable review. The strength of Mrs. Dunham's books is that she tries to paint a picture of earlier times and what it was like, realistically, to live during those times. Sometimes, her work reads more like personalized history rather than fiction. But there are no wild tales here as this is not fiction. I enjoyed the book and would recommend to anyone with a child who wants to understand how it was to live in another era as well as what Mahalia Jackson experienced in her life. It is my understanding that this particular book has won several literary awards.
