It holds some pencils.
This is a decently sized and constructed item; Especially for the price, I thought this was generous given the material. Still, it isn't made to some rediculous standard being that it costs less than 10$; Less than the mechanical pencil I purchased with it. The stiching ends, which are plastic-coated, stick slightly* out of the back and, since this is held onto a belt that might be annoying to you if, depending on where you wore it around the waist, it brushed against your pantleg. The rivets were slightly, slightly inevenly spaced so that one pocket is bigger and the one at the edge is smaller, and it isn't too tall or wide in any pocket anyways so, for reference, the center and closest-to-actual-stitching pocket will hold about half of an unsharpened pencil. The only design flaw in and of itself is that the sweet-spot you can place this on the belt for it to never hit a chair you sit on only works if you pull the holster up to the narrowest part of the loop, so, it might be nice if it was slightly narrower but I can see how it's probbaly better being big enough to fit any larger belt. I wonder if the design could be improved by opening up the entire sleeve and simply stiching in some bands between the gap, though. Anyways, this is about what I expected and things don't seem to be falling out of it.

Classic functionality
I am a self employed cabinet maker, and a friendly competitor gave me one of these about 4 years ago after asking him about his. I loved it. It's made of thick durable leather which is a bit stiff at first but wears in slowly over time. This wear-in period doesn't really effect it's functionality, and I like the old-world look, feel and usability of it. I finally had to replace it, well actually the old one still had a bit of life in it. The new one is just as good and just as well made as my previous one... 4 years is a good run considering that I use this almost 5 days a week. Even if I found a better one made of man-made materials, I would probably stick with this one because I like the naturalness and tradition of leather...

My husband always said he wanted something like this. He can put his pens on his belt and protects his shirt pockets fromgetting ink. He said he had one when he was a small boy and was very happy to find it in Amazon.

Durable and handy holder.
I use this for holding a pen knife, a pen and a highlighter. It seems durable and has roomy pockets.

Handy for teachers
This comes in handy as an art teacher. I call it my nerd pocket, though I know all the other teachers “not so secretly” want one! Fits pencils, sharpies, and my surface pro stylus
