Works great on my split system
I am getting 10-1 codes on my fujitsu solit system when i use heat. The thermistor is fine so I was told the cage is dirty. Water didn't clean it enough as there was still green and a lot of buildup on the inside. I used this, outside unit, with 3 parts water and 1 part formula. I did two passes with a water rinse. The cage looks brand new. Distilled waterThe scent is negligible. I will be using this on the inside unit coils and wheel.Highly recommended. I used a pump sprayer to apply.

It works perfectly as advertised.
I watched a youtube video on how to clean our mini split air handler or head. The metal fins will begin to get clogged with dust and the squirrel cage fan will also grow mold causing the unit to put off a dirty tennis shoe smell. After watching the YOUTUBE instructions and following the directions, lightly spraying the evaporator cleaner on the surface will cause the dirt and grim to fall off very easily. We can clean our systems simply, easily and efficiently whenever needed. This Nu-Calgon product is one of the best tools!

Original and works
Heavy item, but came fine.Worked good; application not as easy as their foaming variant, but it is expected.Still smells, but modrately.Have to re-apply once more, but it is THEE POINT of it: it is gentle, aluminum safe.Modestly effective on reusable filter, but you a get a GALLON of it.Glad I did NOT go for a strongest stuff, as I was tempted: unless a professional, you never know what little hurdle you encounter during seemingly easy job. THIS one is gentle, relatively slow, safe and non stinking.Slightly excided my expectations

it looks like a combination of a detergent and an alcohol
Seems to make a lot of solution. From what I remember of my organic chemistry, it looks like a combination of a detergent and an alcohol. Came quickly in the mail. I used it on my 12 yr old mitsubishi split system in my master bedroom (this is the first time I cleaned the evaporator), using a one-gallon spray pump. It does clean the air handling unit pretty well: areas at the base of the fins (in the valleys) are very very clean. Most of the wastewater actually drained down the drainage tube. I still had to brush off the lint that stuck to the top of the fins (gently, with a toothbrush), and the large plastic bag that I used as a catch-all caught this. A/C is now cold! I did not buy any kits to collect the wastewater. I used a large plastic bag that a new bedframe was in. It worked fine. I just used painter's tape to secure it to the air handling unit but also left the bottom of the plastic bag in a large ice cooler chest. I made a gallon of the solution and now I have a fair amount left over. I thought I could clean the a/c units in my cars but the evaporators are difficult to access. I then used some of it to clean the fins on air handling units in our Central Air, but even after 12 yrs of use, the central air AHU's were still pretty clean anyway. Maybe I would have had an easier time cleaning the fins if I had a pump sprayer that could spray with more force. The price does vary over the internet. I got mine for about $36.

Great maintenance product!
This stuff is great. I live in SFL where we use the ac a lot. In addition to general dirt collecting on the coils, there is humidity and the condensation drain pan and lines clog with algae. I’ve been using this monthly, for two years, applying it when I change out the filters. The coils still look polished/new, the machine is just over 2-years old. No algae clogging things up either. I also have a rental with a 10-y/o system that would need annual maintenance to un-clog the drain pan and lines. Since I started using this product, I haven’t had any backup issue, and it is still cooling well. I also used it on a wall-banger and had good results. This is part of my monthly maintenance routine and after two years of use I think it is effective and great value. It is a maintenance product, not a miracle genie. If your coils are gunked up bad you probably need a pro to acid wash them, then start using this so stuff doesn’t build up again. Use good filters too.

Great for portable a/c's
My portable ac the evaporator looked pretty clean but the way the unit is designed, even if it gets a small amount of funk and dust in the evaporator it'll clog up and quit blowing air. They design them with the aluminum fins so close together so they can get the highest efficiency rating stuffing a 14k btu compressor in such a tiny package with a 12" by 12" evaporator. So anyways with the condensation drain hooked up draining outside spray this stuff around the back of the a/c evaporator coil with the unit running at the recommended 3:1 dilution and it'll pull it into it where the funk's built up and start dissolving it. After two applications in the morning on 2 consecutive days my a/c actually blows and cools like it was new. I'm just happy I don't have to take the cover off and drag it outside to coil clean it and hose it out like I was doing before.I wouldn't use this on any portable a/c without hooking up a condensation drain though. You'll just transfer all your evaporator funk to the condenser and plug that all up. It's meant to drain away with the condensate and not get pinwheeled up and evaporated on the condenser coil.I'm an a/c guy and these portable a/c's are great in every way except the fact it's near impossible to take them apart conveniently to clean it. If you got a portable a/c I recommend getting a jug of this and a sprayer and using it occasionally.

Good for light maintenance
This helps keep the coils cleaner, but, does not cut the gunk as others claim. The AC is still working, but, it is only a patch. When someone finds the best solution, please let me know!!
