another interesting book!!
I love this series, every single book is a different murder and I love reading how Heather is figuring them out! This one really got to me because there was a dog involved but it had an happy ending for him. I normally give these books a 5 star rating and I generally ignore any of the small editing errors, but this one was had more errors than I have ever seen in any of her books and it really distracted from the story because some of the sentences didn't even make sense. I had to reread them more than one time and they still didn't make sense. I hope that the next book and future ones have this problem resolved, I will read them regardless but it gets very distracting when it is this bad.

Yummy! But.....
I loved Caramel Sundae & Murder. But there are so many typos and strangely worded sentences, they distracted from the story. I don't recall one of Susan's books having so many typos, etc. since her first books. If you're reading your reviews, Susan, you should go back to your previous editor!Still recommended.

Lots of Engaging characters
The fast pace and engaging characters are favorites. The storyline wasn't always believable. Thhe lac of editing The lack of editing often changed the meaning of sentences. Invite some gal pals to help.

Murder Is For The Dogs
Heather Shepherd and her best friend and fellow P.I., Amy Givens, were enjoying Heather’s newest donut creation, Caramel Sundae, when Amy’s boyfriend, Jamie, came into the donut shop with a horrified look on his face and holding a ragged looking dog. Jamie explained that the dog’s owner came into his pet grooming van saying that the dog, whose name is Skip, needs to be cleaned up before the owner took the dog back to his wife.Little Skip was certainly dirty and needed to be cleaned up. Skip’s owner brought the dog into the van and then left promising to return for the dog. As Jamie was washing Skip he noticed that dirt was not the only thing going down the drain but blood was too.Jamie examined the dog and saw he wasn’t injured but the dog groomer had no idea what to do so he brought Skip to the donut shop where he knew Heather and Amy would have some answers.Heather and Amy notified Heather’s husband, Key West Police Detective Ryan Shepherd and told him about the blood on the dog. Poor Skip was very upset and only seemed to be calm was when he was with Jamie so Jamie took him back to his apartment.Skip’s owner never came back but the detectives were able to find out the owner’s name because a vet found an identification chip in the animal. According to the chip the person who owned the dog was Vanessa Horn. When the investigators went to Ms. Horn’s home they found that she was murdered, shot dead. Her body was found in the living room near an opened safe. It looked like it might had been a robbery that turned very bad.Vanessa was married, and now divorced, from Tom Horn who was the man who brought Skip into Jamie’s grooming van. Could the ex husband have killed his ex wife because he wanted to steal her jewelry? But when the investigators went to question Tom they found him near death, lying in blood.Who was trying to kill the Horn’s and why? Everyone feels that it’s someone who is very close to the couple who knew the dog, Skip, and knew about the safe in Vanessa’s home.Yet another murder that our donut baking P.I.’s have to solve."Caramel Sundae & Murder” is the 40th Oceanside Cozy Mystery Book by Susan Gillard. This is another good story that is suited for all ages. My only problem is that the book needs a good editing job. There are problems all over and they distract from the storyline. But other than that it’s a fine book for all cozy lovers."I received an ARC of this book prior to publication and I voluntarily review it and my opinions are my own."

Easy read
She’s a good writer. The 5 pack 6-10 had numerous errors! There were so many I started highlighting them. After that things got better but in the last 2 or 3 books the errors are back though not as numerous. I really enjoyed the first maybe 15 books but how many murders can you have back to back.Pros:*Easy readInteresting charactersLikable plotsContinuous/ interlocking storylineLove the seniors, Lillie & petsThere isn’t continuous long repetition of stories from book to bookThere is quite a large number of books in the seriesThe stories actually make senseThe characters are loving and you can identify with themNew characters are added to the storylineI love the family Saturday adventuresLillie’s friendsCons: Wayyy to many murders - aren’t there other mysteries that can be solvedDetectives seem a bit inept/ it would have been more interesting if they were much more active in solving the crimesAmy really doesn’t solve any crimes; although her input has greatly increased & I have no idea how she makes moneyHeather barely spends time in her shop actually working or running the business /more details would have been niceThe culprit is easily discernibleI think that one of the big reasons I wanted more details was the length of the books. The shortness of them limited the amount of details which could be added. I would have preferred longer books with more details. Having said all this she is a very good writer. I love series but this one is long; however, I’ve read every book thus far so that says a lot & will continue the series through the end. I do recommend this book & series.
