Exceptional Analysis
The format of Spying on Democracy makes a complicated subject approachable, from showing how children are conditioned at an early age to befriend corporate advertisers, to explaining the intimidating effect that knowing one may be spied on alters relationships between attorneys and clients and journalists and their confidential sources. There are examples of people who have stood up to fight drones in their communities, and schoolchildren who refused to submit to palm scans. While much of the book makes it seem that surveillance is an intractable part of modern day life, the book still manages to leave the reader with some hope that it's possible to reverse some of the invasions to our civil liberties. The best current analysis to date of the delicate balancing act between governmental power and our right to privacy.

Democracy threatened
Largely, I enjoyed this short read. It's tenor was consistent and mainly unbiased. It's a pity that other examples of groups threatened in their freedoms weren't included to broaden the critique of governments actions. That said, the presentation of facts was excellent, the thoroughness of the research which supported the book was also easily understood

Amazing, informative book written by great author
If you're looking for a thought provoking delve into the super secret world of NSA spying, the loss of American freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and the utter extent to which Americans (and the world) is having their entire electronic world spyed upon, look no further. The collect information on lawyers, journalists and even children!

Still Important
Still informative reading a few years later. The information on corporations spying on NYC bicyclists would be humorous if it wasn't such a waste of terrorism unit resources

When will we have enough?
Am amazed at what I didn't know about surveillance before I read Boghosian's book. She is clear and concise about the danger we face as we are becoming too used to being watched by government and corporations. Just when will the watchers decide what is enough information and when will those of us being watched decide we have had enough of this huge intrusion on our privacy? Thanks to Ms. Boghosian for the heads up.

Informative
Very enlightening. Well written.Does not waste pages restating observations multiple times like many other writers.Makes one even more aware that government, like large corporation, cannot and will not police themselves. It is imperative that the citizenry start exercising their obligations.

TIMELY !
Lewis Lapham's foreword alone is worth the price. He sets the tone for a concise overview of surveillance in the United States. Good read. Carry ths book around and let it be seen! Each chapter covers a different topic on the issue of mass surveillance. Learned a lot, enjoyed it, recommend it not just as great summer reading, as more and more NSA developments are revealed to the public. Timely !

An informative essay to recommend.
It is a very good, yet easy read about the many ways democracy is undermined by the current politics in the USA. The chapters are short, each with conclusions, and much is explained on each way people are spied upon.
