If you are trying to find alternatives to gasoline-powered lawn tools, these shears can help replace small jobs that would be completed by a weed wacker. The blades are sharp and the joint moves freely. The arms are long enough for an average height adult to use without bending over (though you might find a tendency to want to bend over). These will not replace a weed wacker for larger jobs. If you have a property larger than a half acre or you have a lot of feature in your grass that can't be mowed, this may not be to tool for you. If you have a small lawn and are willing to take your time in exchange for a cheap, quiet experience, this is a good tool for the garage.

I'm 60 years young. My back and knees are not quite the condition they were. These shears are well designed and made for cutting weeds & bushes. Delivered by the postman this afternoon in a gigantic box. Immediately, I took it out to the backyard for a test drive. I used it for 35 minutes and I cut the weeds without the need of bending down or stooping down. I am pretty happy with the tool that it seems to be pretty well made. I like the aluminum handles that are relatively strong but light.There are 2 things that kept the review from a perfect 5: (1) the blade seems to be grinding more than I like when especially when cutting near the tip even though it came well oiled; (2) the item came scratched and appeared to be used as the blade looked dirty with debris on them.

I have a very inconsiderate neighbor who allows his English Ivy to climb over everything, including my property. For years I have struggled to maintain it and keep it away. An electric weed whacker does not work well because the ivy is so thick. I purchased this item to assist in trimming the ivy back. Sometimes the old fashion way works best. This trimmer is lightweight aluminum and easy to use. The blade cuts well through the touch Ivy. Worked like a charm! This tool will make my life a lot easier in the future. I spray the blade with oil after each use. Love! I now have a nice straight line of Ivy that is away from my property.

We live in the desert where grass is minimal. What we do have is lots of cactus. This tool allows me to trim agave leaves and other stab potential plants...all while keeping my arms away from needles. The shears are very sharp and easy to handle on grass and diving into narrow armed cactus (also hand-free in case a snake may be in there). Love this tool!

For some reason, I thought the blades would cut 'sideways' as in open and close at ground level. Of course, looking at the photo, I can see my error. Blades cut up and down. Really not suitable for trimming the height from ground cover plants. Not sure what it would be used for, but too much trouble to return. Works well if I lean sideways and chop from that awkward position. Blades VERY sharp. Just not what I need - but not the product's fault.

I have grass to trim that where do not want to use a string trimmer. My options to date was 1) use a long pruning sheer, or 2) getting down on my knees with a hand sheer. Option #1 worked, except he grass was trimmed at an angle. Option #2 was just a pain. Finally found this item. I can now stand up and trim the grass at ground level. I am 5-9. Works great, but tool takes a bit of getting used to. The blade is off-set from the handle about 45 degrees. The handle is about 3 ft long. I am trimming heavy Bermuda grass and this has no issues. A nice side benefit is that I can open the blades slightly and use the tool to pick up items at ground level.Note: due to the awkward shape of the tool, the Amazon delivery box was huge

I have been looking for "clippers" like these for 20+ years. I hate string trimmers. These are quieter and do a really nice job...without shooting rocks at my shins.Sure they aren't as quick as those other noisy contraptions, but I like these better. Much better.The blades are sharp. The handles are long enough so I do not have to bend over. These clippers are very light too.Take a moment to do a great job clipping your lawn. Afterall, what's the big rush?
