fantastic story and even better illustrations. A super fun book. Just not sure if it is a true story or not. doesn't really let us know, even though the author is the one telling it.

We have an oral story teller that comes once a month and she does this story every year. So I ordered it so the kids could then read the story, see the pictures, and decide if the story is the same or different from the story teller’s version. Many kids asked me if they could have a turn reading the book on their own. I think I am enchanted with it because I love the ending! The children and I see the ending differently. ;)

Not only fun for children!

Vividly illustrated, well-told tall tale...or maybe true tale? A boy has a habit of carrying packs of bubblegum in his shirt pocket. One day,out daydreaming while walking in the desert, he steps on a rattlesnake. What happens next is hair-raising and hilarious.

Children are left with a question asked by author...true or exaggeration. I retesting discussion at home or at school

We LOVE this story and this author. I highly recommend this book.

Loved this book. Illustrations were fantastic. It made my kids have to think I it truly happened or not. Shared it with my co workers and they loved it as well.

This book had 60 third graders in stitches. They loved the book as a read aloud. To make it more fun, be sure to pass out some bubble gum to go along with the story.
