Songs of love lost on solo pianoBorn in Cave City, Kentucky, a small farming community of 1,400 residents, Beegie Adair (pronounced B-G) grew up avidly listening to music. At age four she started the 'two-finger-hunt-and-peck' system on the piano, but began actual lessons when she was five and continued studying piano through college at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. Arriving in Nashville during the heyday of Country music allowed her the opportunity to accompany such legendary performers as Chet Atkins, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton. Because Nashville was a hot bed of musical television tapings and live performances during that time, Adair also worked with such entertainers as Neil Diamond, Mama Cass Elliott, and Peggy Lee in her position as in-house pianist for The Johnny Cash Show for ABC-TV plus other television programs featuring Lucille Ball, Carol Burnette, and Dinah Shore. Adair serves as adjunct professor in jazz studies at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and currently teaches singers repertoire at the Nashville Jazz Workshop. Beegie credits as her main influences Jimmy Jones, George Shearing, Teddy Wilson, Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Russ Freeman (the pianist who played with Chet Baker in the Fifties).

Songs of lost love
I have listened to this wonderful CD a dozen times since I got it last week. I think it is one of the most beautiful she has ever put out. I know that her husband, Billy, a music teacher at Vanderbilt University, died in February this year. They were married 38 years. Perhaps his illness informed her deep, introspective playing on these songs. They are mostly songs of loss and longing. But as it happens so often with great artists, personal pain has translated into artistic achievement. Seen in this light, the performances on this album might comprise a very personal statement. What a beautiful gift to his memory and to all her fans. I have taken it to heart. If you hear the CD you will also.

Absolutely Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful I think it is her most beautiful album. I love that it is solo piano and she lets you hear her heart, not really playing for the lucky listener but playing, thinking ,remembering, crying for herself on many of the cuts - By Myself - The End of A Love Affair - Last Night When We Were Young. and Goodbye. Beegie Adair is a national treasure.

This is my 6th album I have bought of thiswonderful piano artist . Her music is sosoothing to the ear . If your looking for justpiano solo music this one that should be a greatpossibility for anybody to listen to BeegieAdair , she is wonderful .

Beegie (by herself) BY MYSELF
This is a great solo piano CD that contains mostly slower beat standards. This is truly a background or cocktail mood album. It is a good way to relax. We all need to listen to this type of music occasionally. Beegie never disappoints no matter what she plays.

Love Your Solo Work, Beegie!!!!
It has been a long time since Beegie produced a solo CD. And it was well worth waiting for!! She has chosen all of my favorite heartthrob tunes with this album, and put forth so much feeling in this work. Thank you, Beegie, and consider more solo ventures...maybe another Holiday and/or Standards CD. You do it SO well!!!
