Perfect atmospheric sounds to accompany the re-make of the movie "The Fog," 2005
Wow, another great movie soundtrack by another great music composer (what a great time to be into movie soundtracks!). Graeme Revell has created the perfect atmospheric sounds to accompany the re-make of the movie "The Fog," 2005. Other reviewers have captured the electronic and orchestral sounds on this movie soundtrack, which at times are haunting, just as the movie is. At under 40 minutes this is a little short, and IMO if Revell had wanted too he could have stretched his soundscapes into two CD's and made a monumental contribution to his already impressive repertoire.Similar is Marc Streitenfeld's movie soundtrack of the film "Prometheus," which is mainly orchestral music with some "electronic" and choir sound elements. See also music from the motion picture John Carpenter's "The Thing," music composed by Ennio Morricone and Carpenter, with Alan Howarth and Larry Hopkins, which available on CD.

Good, Atmospheric, Spooky
I own about a dozen Graeme Revell soundtracks, this one is pretty good overall. It has a lot of spooky, atmospheric sounds, both electronic and orchestral. It fit the movie really well, but unless you're into listing to horror soundtracks (or need background music for a haunted house) it may not be your thing. Probably for fans of the film, genre, or Graeme only.I have found that Revell tends to be at his strength when his scores are mostly electronic (not noisy or dancy, just electronic), or minimal. Scores such as The Crow, Dead Calm, or for the first few seasons of CSI: Miami. But he has such good grasp of sounds and sound textures, even in scores like this, or even Aeon Flux, it makes for interesting listening, and this score is no different. He also manages to create a simple, but memorable theme for the film that works well. What might make this score most difficult to listen to are the abrupt changes, it can go from pretty quiet, to loud orchestral strikes and swells pretty quickly. But there are some great sounds on here, and the mix is outstanding. As this film is a remake, it should be known that this score bares no resemblance to the classic John Carpenter score (nor did the film for that matter).

I Wish The Radio Station Music Was Used
In the movie, there was some great music being played at the lighthouse radio station. It was mostly darker rock music. I can't seem to find out the names of the songs played, and the soundtrack does not seem to contain any of those tunes. Disappointing!

The name of the moody rock song is...
The moody rock piece that signaled Elizabeth's (Maggie Grace) intro that connects to a scenic shot of the lighthouse station is "Salome's Wish" by The Booda Velvets. It's available on iTunes.

Music
The songs from the lighthouse radio station were not on the soundtrack, I managed to find a couple of the tracks. If anyone is interested here is what they are: Invincible--Ok GoNighttime--Petracovich, Salome's Wish--The Booda Velvets. The song invincible really stuck out for me in the movie, I heard it and really liked it.
