Best book I have read
The storyline was gripping and you really got attached to the characters through the twists in the book, this book had made me try other books by this author.

Over-the-Top action thriller
Miles Kendrick, an ex-private investigator who is now in a witness protection program, is undergoing treatment for PTSD. He believes he killed his best friend, Andy, and is being helped through the ordeal by Allison, a psychiatrist. She then dies in a bomb-blast and attention turns to a conspiracy involving the discovery of a potentially new drug called "Frost", which is thought to offer assistance to PTSD sufferers. So Miles tries to find out what is really going on while at the same time trying to deal with his issues, including Andy speaking to him all the time. There are good and bad guys all over the place and it is not difficult to become confused by who is doing what as the body count increases - and not a policeman to be seen anywhere! All does move forward at "breakneck" speed, however, as the book cover suggests. And there is a twist.Abbott has taken a lot of licence in creating the story, but he does highlight a rather important medical issue in the process. The book was just too much of an "over the top" chase for my liking though. 7/10

A MUST read...all of Abbott's books!
Having started with PANIC, I have since not been able to get enough of all his titles, although there have been differences when reading his Poteet mysteries, I have found every single one to be gripping to the end, this is the only author that I have not skipped a few pages here and there.I now find myself on the eight book with 100 pages to go, I am now in panic mode as I have to wait until July 08 for the next one!! I can't wait.

Not as good as Panic but still good
Fear is an ok book, but it feels it has a few missing chapters in parts especially towards the end.I have given it 4 stars because it is good and its better then 3.5 stars but not 5 by no means. It is a book you can put down and come back to in a few weeks, or read in partnership with a few others.Should you buy it, maybe in a sale otherwise go the library. It's not as good as panic.

Action thriller with a twist
I suspect Mr Abbot has always been a solid and inventive author, but improved marketing is now bringing him to greater public attention. I read and enjoyed Fear and so picked this one up.Here we have an ex-private investigator who is undergoing treatment for minor psychosis following an undercover operation that went wrong. He is living under an assumed identity under a witness protection programme when his doctor is murdered and he becomes involved. As he investigates (while struggling with his own problems) he picks up two more patients to help him, both with their own problems. This could have turned out to be a light thriller with assorted nutters getting the better of the bad guys, but this is played straight, hard and fast. This is an unusual thriller and the better for it. The author continues to be one to watch.

Not bad at all
This for me was a book purchased to waste a few hours on a training journey. But to my shock once you've got through a very slow start, It wasn't a poor read at all. For the subject matter very well detailed and described unlike others I did not find it OTT at all. I do have to agree that the final chapters felt rushed and a little disappointing. But overall a very light and enjoyable read.
