Hermione Granger's Illuminating Wand

This wand really made my Halloween costume complete! Pictures don't do its detail much justice, in my opinion. The only thing that concerned me at first was that I had to make sure that tightened the battery cover enough to get it to work. After that, a "swish and flick" or a slight tap turns it on and off, and a button disguised a leaf brightens or dims the light. The only issue I have is that, because a small tap turns it off and on, putting it down on a table or even transporting it by bike or car will make the light turn off and on which could potentially run the battery down. The battery cover key is too small to make removing the battery throughout a day's use convenient. It's something you definitely wouldn't want to lose. This wand is a must-have for any Harry Potter fan, no matter the age. Even if you never play with it, it would look beautiful on display. There's nothing more fun than saying, "Lumos!" and seeing the light come on in a dark room!

This was an amazing toy and worth all the money. It has a nice weight, size, design, and the light is really nice and you can change the lighting.I also like that the button to change the lighting is hidden as one of the leaves carved on it I didn't even notice it right away.However, i have one small complaint, ( that i don't really care about but just want people reading this to know ) some time the light easily turns on when you don't want it, also taking out of the box is slightly difficult but doable.Even though this wand is not wood ( it's plastic ) you usually forget it because the toy is so fun!I was also happy that the light is bright enough to see even a large room that is pitch black.

We purchased this as a prop for a Halloween costume. However, I wish we had purchased it prior to our trip to Universal. Although they are interactive, the wands at the park cost over $75, which is a lot! These are much most reasonably priced, but they are not as interactive as the wands in the park. They do light up though, which is really cool!

Great plastic wand. Sturdy. Light turns on and off with movement. Didn't really have noticeable effect using dimmer button. Battery compartment opens with key- don't lose it. Overall great gift for Potter fans.

Yes that's correct, I'm 22 years old and I bought this toy for myself ;) I've always been a huge fan and I grew-up with the characters, but I'm usually only ever extremely nerdy in my own house. This toy is wonderfully fun, I bought it, believe it or not, because I'm aways waking up in the middle of the night to get a drink or use the bathroom, and I thought this would be much sweeter than a flashlight or a night light. It is larger than the collectable wands, and much less in quality than them too, but that's because this is a toy. It's larger because two batteries need to fit in there, and quite obviously made of plastic.I can't stress this enough to those negative reviewers, you're paying for the Harry Potter name, the price is not going to go down. I'm an avid collector, and yes it's as much as the collectable wands even though I myself would consider it less of a collectable and more of a toy, but it's also ten times more fun since it really does light up with just a flick of the wrist, and off again in the same manner, which is better than any other light-up wand you'll find out there. My conclusion: If your'e willing to spend the dough, this really will be worth it, you or your child will go bonkers for it. To you it may look too fake, but to your kid, they are a real wizard! How big of a price tag can you put on that kind of joy? By far the most fun thing I've added to my collection of HP items. And I plan to use it constantly.

Love this wand! It gets really bright, and would make a fun flashlight for a kid who's still afraid of the dark. I admit that I have grabbed it a few times and used it as a flashlight. You have to 'flick' the wand to turn it on, not wave it. So it's not easy for kids to turn on, until they get the hang of it. I don't understand why this item had so many bad reviews. Yes, the wand is plastic resin. Yes, the wand is sensitive and turns on easily. If you are worried about battery life; buy RECHARGABLE batteries, untwist the battery cap part way when traveling and don't leave them in the wand if you're going to store this in a closet. I especially recommend the rechargeable batteries if you are buying this for a child.

Wand arrived in plenty of time for birthday. Well packaged, good quality product. For such a pricey product though would have been a nice gesture to include batteries!

Perfect ! exactly as expected and even better ! It lights up when we wave it and if we wave back it close, some people may think its not normal but it is!! Its made out of great plastic but super well painted which make it looks like wood :)!
