The flavor is great and makes any food I put it on taste great too. It is not overbearing and has a light flavor.

We eat a lot of rice, fish & greens. This seasoning is a great way to punch up the flavor :)

I tried this at my daughter’s house in WA and then came home to AK and ordered 2 jars!! It came fast too!!

This review is for the Barnacle "Everything" seasoning (kelp, garlic, onion, sesame seed, salt, poppy seed)Really good blend of "everything" seasonings. Garlic is most notable, followed by onion. Large flaky pieces- all add a nice crunch. Sesame and poppy seeds add a burst of flavor when they get chomped down on. Love the overall texture. Very much reminds me of "everything" bagel seasoning with the addition of kelp. I have tried this plain, as well as mixed into dishes as the were cooking, and as a finishing seasoning before plating. To me, the kelp sits in the background. I love kelp, but it isn't something I want all the time. I figured if this was "kelp forward" then I would have limited (but still enjoyable) use. However, with this the kelp is very much in the background. I can taste it because I am looking for it, but no one in my house has commented on there being a kelp flavor. So, this is good or bad depending on what you are looking for. I think it is done well. I like how it imparts an umami taste without the fishy-seaweed taste that some kelp can have. Gain the benefit of kelp without it having to pair well Just the right amount of salt. Comes in a short pot, twist off lid, with wide opening. Perfect for spooning out, or grabbing a pinch. BUT, a wide hole shaker would make it easier to use. Also, until further into the container (its packed to the brim), it is hard to shake to make sure it is well mixed. For all I know, all the kelp is at the bottom? And for those that say it is a strong kelp flavor might have it all on top? lol I have no idea. It looks mixed, but who knows.Overall I like it a lot. 4.5 stars

Who knew a company could make wonderful seasonings out of kelp? I am glad one did and has turned out exceptional products.

I was excited to order this to make a Furikake Party Mix. The container was nearly all sesame seeds, no kelp flavoring and a waste of money. Will try a different brand.

Okay, not sure there is "real furikake" but there is the stuff I get from the Asian Market. The stuff I usually has strips of seaweed and other stuff in it with ingredients like disodium inosate or disodium succinate that I can't pronounce. What I love about Barnacle Foods Kelp Furikake is that I can read and know what every ingredient on the list is.We normally go through bottles of furikake since the kids like sprinkling it on their rice. When they tried this they said it was just as good as the other stuff we get. The flavor is sweet and salty and is wonderfully umami and I actually like the taste of this better. However, the better taste and quality of this furikake is reflect in the fact that this does cost more.
