Great rod for fishing!
Saw the game without the rod and looked interesting but then I found this version with the rod included and I couldn’t resist not buying it. Instructions unclear though, I now have an aquarium of fish at home (literally).

3.5 hopes it would be better
It seemed a little harder to use the reel to cast which is why I bought the combo in the first place . But it does have a fun aspect to it .

Game:good. Pole:dumb
The game is perfect. Def get this game for fishing on the switch. The fishing pole though is dumb and not very compatible. We ended up just not using it. But the game is great. It’s good for kids but also my 28 year old boyfriend has been obsessed for about 8days straight while off this holiday season and he never liked video games before. So yea… I recommend the game lol plus the fish are cute so I enjoy watching him reel them in too.

The game is very misleading and the Reel Fishing Rod is virtually useless.
Got this game for my 4 year old. Brief walkthrough of my first ten minutes with this game:Startup the game. Looks great. Prompts you to choose reeling styles and how you'll hold the controller. None of the presented options include the "Reel Fishing Rod". To reiterate, the game itself doesn't expect you to be using the fishing rod. It asks you to press buttons you cannot reach if you are using the fishing rod.Thinking I did something wrong, I try to go back. I can't go back. The game has no menu, at least during the tutorial. So I have to force quit the game and restart it.Eventually, I go through the tutorial and then am presented with the actual game menu screen, where you'll select game modes and such. At the bottom is a "mini game" option. THAT is where you're supposed to use the "Reel Fishing Rod". Not the game itself, only in this mini game.So I click on that mini game thinking now my very excited child can play with the fishing rod just as she wanted to ... Only to find that the mini game doesn't work in TV mode. IT DOESN'T WORK IN TV MODE.Meaning you can only play with the fishing rod in this one mini game and it can only be played on the Switch's small screen, not on the TV.Maybe the game is good, but it's beyond misleading regarding the fishing rod peripheral and the game itself seems to be incompetently designed from a UX perspective.Additionally, the rod itself feels like cheap garbage. The reeling is loud and sounds like scraping plastic and the whole thing feels like what you'd imagine a cheap plastic fishing rod would feel like. It's uncomfortable.

Great game bad controller
The controller adapter doesn’t work for the game, it requires that you pull them out of the thing every few min and is poorly made, but the game has been a lot of fun great family activity
