They can get a bit hot on the top, and while I have notice slight discoloration or heat stress on top of if he light is laid directly on the humidity dome constantly running 24/7 (nothing serious such as wrapping or melting of the plastic. I would advise that you be aware of your surroundings and keep curtains/drapes or any other item that might have a lower flashpoint temperature point resistance than the a "Mondi plastic 10"x20" humidity dome" MOST IMPORTANTLY all with all electrical ballasts *MAKE SURE YOUR HAVE A TIGHT CONNECTION ON ALL YOUR CONNECTIONS - BULB-TO-HOOD, **HOOD TO BALLAST**, and Ballast to wall... only have electrical outlets with no ground (2plugs not 3) that is not meant for 1000watts (11.5-12.5amps) running 24/7. Finally, Try to avoid Outdated Knob and Tube Wiring and preferentially just get a separate run from the main and install an updated circuit breaker box "BY A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN!" While I do have experience will everything stated and luck I was home during the day, not asleep when when the knob and circuit tubes breakers failed to trip : "I Am Not a Certified Electrician "I do not participate with process such as running live wire, rewire circuits, or anything that could not be done right and present a fire hazard.' I know this rating is only for a Sun Blaze Output Fluorescent Strip, but please heed by words of advice and an electrical fire can initiate in under 30seconds with heat, an arching electrical circuit can proceed until the wires are shut off by the main fuse wreaking havoc the the whole time. *do not try to rip cords on fire out on the wall with your band hands, If you must separate the bad connection use a non conductive wooden object such as broom handleThis got such a long review as sunblaze makes come of my favorite products which I have never has a single issue with in past decade I had been using them.

Light works great, it connects well, is very lightweight, and quite durable for a light fixture.

This is great for my reptiles UVB light. A bit cheaper than some other fixtures even though it seems a bit steep at $35

Works perfectly, easy to clip together, nothing bad to say about it, it's just a great basic fixture. The on/off switch is inline in the cord, so that could be a good or bad thing depending on where you need to lead the cord; if it's behind something, you may have to reach to manually turn the unit on and off.For my purposes, I bought this for a grow tent, intending to use an AgroMax UVB tube with it. So I'm running it just switched on, and then connected to a simple timer that actually powers it on and off. So for me, the poor in-cord switch location really isn't an issue.

Was easy to assemble and seems like it would do an excellent job if it would actually stay on.Right out of the package, the light consistently goes off after a certain amount of time. After checking all connections, ensuring the bulb is correctly installed, and powering the light via various outlets in the house, the issue has something to do with the wiring.I checked and confirmed 120V AC after the switch, so there is an internal problem with the wiring of the light in the fixture casing - pretty shocking given how simple it is to wire a light.....The longest it has managed to stay on is about 10 seconds.Don't buy this light unless you're a glutton for punishment or have a backup light you can use while repairing this one.

Works great. Bought two 2ft lights and they came in perfect condition. Bulbs going strong after 2.5 weeks. Will purchase more as my indoor garden expands. I have them set up on a metal shelving unit in a basement room without a window. When you look into the room from the hallway, you'd swear there was a window in there. The two little lights really light up the room! I run them for 15 hours a day and my tomato seedlings and herbs are doing great. Much better then they were doing in my patio window.Update: I have used these lights for three years now. They run from Jan-may for about 12 hours. I have not needed to change the bulbs yet. My plants always look great!

This fixture/bulb combo is a great value and works well. The light it produces is very bright, we will see how it grows my African Violets. I attached the fixture to a 24” wide shelf unit and it fits perfectly. It does produce some heat but not enough that I would worry about any issues arising and I think it could be placed pretty close to the plants.
