This is the ultimate emergency whistle. This three-chamber whistle is extremely loud and very easy to blow even if your breathing is compromised. The whistle is completely over-designed, over-engineered and over-built. You could probably drive a tank over this whistle and it would still work. I wonder how many of the plastic emergency whistles could survive the type of abuse that this whistle seems built to survive. Little details like the recessed star-head screws are very elegant, even if they are a bit over the top. The attached chain and clip make it very easy to attach this whistle to your keyring, jacket zipper or any other handy location. The whistle comes packaged in a very nice tin, which can be re-purposed in many useful ways. My only issue is the weight of this whistle. All that stainless steel is a bit to heavy to have bouncing around as a zipper pull. I would love to see this same whistle done with some lighter-weight material, like maybe some high-quality anodized aircraft aluminum. Because of the weight issue I would have given this whistle 4.5 stars, but since I can't do half stars, I gave it the full five stars. I can live with that.

Lightweight, compact, LLLLLOUD, it’s a thing of beauty. Well crafted, I can’t think of anything I’d want different.This is in my EDC bag, will always be my go-to for audible alerts in emergency situations.I will probably get a few more, and they’d make an excellent stocking stuffer for college students and folks who work in service industries or where rowdy people need to be blasted into submission.Folks at the pistol range might want one that would get the attention of folks who have hearing protection, as well.Uncles with no kids might want to give one to a special niece or nephew!If you need a whistle, get this. If you don’t know if you need a whistle, you need this. As far as those things they say “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it,” this is so compact and easy to carry - but so effective - that I consider it an essential item; and at this price, I think you will, too.

Very loud. Too loud. Loudest piercing sound my ears have ever heard. I fear if I use it to warn away bears (my reason for buying), I will cause permanent damage to my ears. I still feel deafened 2 minutes after testing it. I am 75. So I gave it 1 star. But it’s a 5 star product.

I get excited for any safety or self defense toys, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity to make an attackers ears bleed with this little whistle.It's lightweight and LOUD. Even a soft little blow and it stings the ears, I haven't tried it yet at full blast.The only cons in my opinion are supremely minor - the "gold" is more brass, but that's decently represented in the pictures. And it jangles. When on a keychain with other items (you know...like keys), it clanks with every little motion. Annoying? Sure, but not especially troublesome.

It took a while, but I finally got a chance to test this whistle at the pier. This whistle is not as loud as they claim. The Storm whistle and the orange colored thumb size whistle is much louder than this.I would appreciate it if they had testing done on the loudness of this whistle at various distances.

I was expecting more. I used is as a referee whistle and it was awful. the sound is terrible and you have to balance your breath and be calm when you blow it. Hard to do when officiating and running around, sure. I'd say I'd be more panicked if I had to use this in an emergency situation.Other than ease of use: it sounds bad, and it's no where near as loud as I expected (definitely not as loud as advertised). I almost thought I wasn't doing it right until i did it incorrectly. If i were to recommend anything, it would be the FOX 40 SONIC BLAST.

Neat! Lots of fun and really loud. Highly recommended. Is a bit heavy, but its made of steel, expected. It's coated with something to help prevent rust, but best to keep it clean and air it out if it gets wet so it won't rust.

Very powerful whistle. Well built and very loud. I have over 10 whistles and I consider this my best.

Was absolutely pumped wore whistles for the last 9 years this what mely second whistle louder than I thought and really nice has clips but day 2 it broke off during normal doings and is gone so might have to hit up the old company

Super loud whistle! Seems durable.Only concern is that if you were to use it in an emergency scenario during a hike or a ski trip your lips would freeze to the whistle if temperatures reach0°C. I feel like a bit of Gorilla tape on the top would fix this problem. However I haven't tested this fix
