I will only ever buy Ossenburg!!
These crutches are excellent. I had already bought a pair of Ossenberg Black textured elbow crutches so I knew I would be receiving another high quality product. I decided to buy a bright orange pair as sometimes it is quite good to let everyone see that you are on crutches. The black ones are fabulous but are so discreet that your disability can go unnoticed. I use my black ones for walking about outside. I use my orange ones when I am shopping, they just alert people a bit more and I get more space to shop. Both crutches are really solid and you feel very safe and stable with them. The handles are very comfortable and ergonomically designed. It is really easy to adjust the lengths of the crutch below and above the handle. I must admit that I had set my crutch to be one step too short and was tending to lean forward a bit to compensate for this. My physiotherapist quickly adjusted this. There is no dreadful tapping sound with these crutches which does frequently accompany NHS or cheaper models. If you have a long term illness or disability then it is worth noting that you can claim the VAT back on this product by completing a "Disabled persons zero VAT eligibility form" (downloadable from gov.uk website) and sending it to Amazon. As I said, the quality of these is superb, they very much feel like they could have been made by VW or AUDI!

Outstanding quality!
Very Impressed with these crutches I have had to use crutches to walk most of my life and permanently since 2007 so I've had a lot of different pairs and these are by far better than any others I've only used them for 2 days so I can't comment on if these will survive longer than a year but from what I see and feel I can presume they will last for many years with just replacing the ferrals and possibly the hand grips as they plastic and metal are solid also they are silent no one can hear me coming.I will update this review if anything changes but if like me you rely on crutches then you won't be disappointed with these, I've paid more and had much worse also the hospital ones are so horrible to use these will make life a lot more comfy for you.

These are brilliant!
If you have been looking for some crutches like me then look no further. These are brilliant and really comfy on your palms. I'm suffer from various back problems and usually use a walking stick but add pregnancy to the mix and I need crutches. I have some the NHS gave me but they click and I also find the arm cuffs really tight on my right arm (had an accident and that arm is damaged)I was nervous that these would come and the cuff wouldn't fit but I need not have worried the cuff fits comfortably and has room to spare too. Made up with them. I went for the matt black which to me is a sort of textured black and they look really good in my opinion. Glad I went for this option now instead of a colour. The large clips for securing the bottom section of the crutches are the stand sort of C clip I have seen on some other crutches in the hospital. They where a little difficult to push through but nothing major. The handles are quite soft but not if you get me - they feel nice on your palms unlike the NHS ones.I'm 5ft4 and I didn't need to adjust the top part of the crutch, and I used the 6th hole from the top for the lower section - I matched what the physio had set for me on the NHS ones.At £60+ these seem expensive but they aren't because they are quality. Don't hesitate when buying them they are great.

comfort and silence
These crutches are much more comfortable and quiet than the ones I got from the hospital, which clacked incessantly and hurt my hands to the extent that I was scarcely able to use them; the Ossenberg crutches have relatively soft handles, shaped to fit the hand - since starting to use them my hands have completely recovered. The previous clacking of the NHS crutches was of course not physically disabling, but was a permanent irritation, whereas now I can drift around silently. This combination of comfort and silence has meant that I use them a lot more, which can only be an excellent contribution towards maintaining mobility. It is no wonder that they cost about three times as much as the basic hospital crutch, but I reckon they are worth every penny.

My lifesavers
Three and a half years on and these crutches are still as good as new despite constant usage. These are excellently constructed German pieces of engineering. I am a long term crutch user due to suffering from MS which has affected my balance and also having had a bad fall which required extensive surgery on my right lower leg and ankle due to several fractures. These crutches are sturdy, easy to use and are silent. There is no irritating NHS crutch click. Basically I can get out and about. They have more or less given me my life back. Brilliant purchase.

Pretty good.
If you're unfortunate enough to need crutches, these certainly make the experience more pleasant. At first glance they look a little under-engineered compared to the NHS standard ones and they seem a little flimsier. But although they're light, they're perfectly strong enough to support me (I weigh 14 stone), they're way more comfortable on the hands and after 12 weeks of constant use there are no signs of wear & tear. The only small reservation I have is that the rubber ferrules can be very slippery on certain surfaces when wet. Not great for confidence. Perhaps there's a trade-off to make between grip and durability but if so, I think the manufacturers haven't got it quite right.

Great improvement to my walking abilities
I have been walking without a right hip for over a year. The major limiting factor in the distance I have been able to walk has been discomfort in my hands, arms and shoulders. These crutches have been much more comfortable to use, apart from a bit of soreness on the palm of one hand near the wrist. I have felt much safer using these on slightly rough surfaces compared to NHS crutches. The ferrules are slightly bigger and there is movement in the lower section to help with turning on the spot. Reflectors are a good idea . The crutches are well made and many people have admired my "funky" sticks!
