Heavy Duty Chrome/Black ID & Name Badge Retractable Reel, Chain Pull, SOLD INDIVIDUALLY

This product is made extremely well. I honestly was not paying too close of attention while purchasing to the description, but I should have. The best way I can describe it is that it looks, and feels, like one of those key holders that a lot of security guards have but with a bit for your badge instead of keys. The base/coil/round part at the top, is rather big, definitely larger than the majority of these type of badge holders. The retractable chain is literally a metal chain, which makes it fairly heavy, and the part that I was most paying attention too is the plastic bit at the end which does have the matted plastic as appears in the picture. This is not exactly what I wanted but the product is solid and if you work in a situation where your badge holder takes a beating, this product is definitely for you. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a Heavy Duty badge holder, but if you're like me and working in an office, you may want to look at different options.

My badge reel gets a lot of use, and the average flimsy plastic-body-thin-nylon-line reels that are out there don't inspire any confidence...So I've been looking for a sturdy badge reel like this one for a while, and it's great! Nice metal-link chain, and very solid construction overall. Note - it's heavier and larger overall than you average badge reel, due to it's all-metal construction, but that's perfectly fine by me. No more worries about losing my badge due to a frayed nylon cord or flimsy alligator-clip clasp.Product shipped to me exactly as described in the listing here. Very happy with this purchase!

It's almost a 5, but it would have been nice to see the back in a picture before buying. I bought it hoping it'd be a movable alligator clip that actually tightly stays put, but alas, it's just one that slips onto a belt.. and for us women who don't wear a belt, it's less useful. but i'll deal. because every other one i've had, the string or wire breaks off and makes it useless. This one at least won't break!My only other issue was that it didn't come with the name badge plastic loop, but a key ring instead. The seller fixed this by sending me the ID badge loops very quickly in the mail.All in all, a good purchase, and would buy again if needed.(I'll add more pictures so others can see the back.

Few things are made tough any more. This one is.Due to it's hefty recoil and stiff clip to keep it attached, I'd also suggest this reel for keys, trauma sheers and hand guns (joke).Just be careful if you attach it to your nice dress shirt pocket. Depending on how hard you pull out your ID, it may be tougher than your shirt's stitching...It's a about 50% bigger than other light weight reels, but if you're looking for well-constructed, abuse-tolerant retractable ID reel, you found it.

I purchased this reel for its mostly promise of being heavy duty, its positive reviews about how strong the chain was, and that the spring did not quickly fail. For the price I expected it to, at bare minimum, outlast my previous dollar store badge reel.This badge reel says it's "heavy duty" but the only thing heavy duty about it is the spring. The most common point of failure on any badge reel I have come across is the wire, cable, cord, or chain that retracts into the badge reel. This reel is no exception. In fact, this reel broke twice as fast as my last nylon string badge reel and the nylon string reel never damaged me or my clothes.As you can see from the pictures the chain itself begins to shred or unravel in such a way that it leaves sharp barbs off to the side. Though I did not include a picture of it, this reel cut both the skin of my hand as well as the shirt I was wearing when it reeled back in for the last time. Luckily the cut was not too deep (only a minute amount of blood) but the fact that it is designed in such a way that this is even possible is horrible.After it cut me and my shirt, it jammed. When I tried to pull it forward again, to try to get it to reel back in, the chain snapped. There is no way a reel that can't outlast a plastic nylon reel should be touted as "heavy duty".Avoid this reel at all costs.

It is heavy duty indeed... however, the chain is too 'clunky' for the action that is required of it. The spring in the retraction mechanism is too strong also, it nearly pulls my pants off when I try to pull out the lanyard. I have to use two hands to operate this safely without giving my coworkers a free show.

I had this badge holder for 8 months. I loved it every day of that 8 months, but today the spring broke. I will order another one. It's a little bulky and heavy, but it holds on well and the chain won't break. It seems like the weak point is the spring. I would have given it 4 stars if it lasted a few year. Probably 5 if it went 2 or more. It really was just what I was looking for.

This is a great badge reel for anyone who frequently breaks the nylon cord type. It has a great feel to it, very sturdy, and retracts quickly. It does have some tension when pulling the chain out more than a foot, so it may not be for you if you need more length. The clip is strong but does not damage my belts. I'm ordering some as gifts for co-workers. Great product, amazing price for the quality in my opinion.
