I LOVE my dual function air cooler and dog silencer
I use this for camping in my small travel trailer and it is AMAZING. It turns a small hot space into an ice box very quickly and its thermostat is capable of maintaining a perfect temperature all night long. In its efforts to maintain the right temperature it does kick on and off a lot, which could be a problem if you are a light sleeper. I sleep more soundly than the dead, so this is no problem at all for me. My dog, however, jumped straight up in the air a few times the first night we used it. But he got used to it within a few hours and sleeps peacefully through the night now.I should add that I actually LIKE the fact that the fan is a little loud because it drowns out the neighbors and saves me from being awakened at 3 am by the dog (who no longer barks in the night at the sounds of animals moving around/dogs barking/people talking/etc). Also, as another commenter mentioned, ANY portable a/c will be loud. The one in your house is quiet only because most of its moving parts are located outside or in the attic. So all in all, this dual function air cooler and dog silencer is one of the best things I've ever purchased off Amazon. Or anywhere. And I got a refurbished unit too, so the price was more than fair. Now that I know how well it works for my purposes I would definitely pay full price if I had to buy it again.Helpful hint: If you use it in a small space, be mindful of the temperature settings. If you're not paying attention when you turn it on you might wake up in the morning with pneumonia because the product really does work THAT well.

Good Unit For The Price
Amazon delivered this to me in 1 day and I don't have Prime. I was really impressed. The packaging was sturdy so there were no physical defects or damage to the product inside.Hooking up the hose to the window was fairly easy. There are 3 separate pieces that come with the unit to help adjust for the width of the window size. You put one end of the hose into the air conditioner and the other end into the widow exhaust hole, lower your window on top of the vent strips and your all set. The unit also comes with foam with adhesive to put around any partitions or opening that might be letting hot air from the outside get in.Two things I would recommend is to wrap the hose with duct wrap insulation as the hose does get hot and then expels the heat right back into the room you're trying to cool. Another item I would recommend is to put some large pieces of foam or other insulating material behind the panels that are provide that go in the window to help keep the heat out. This all doesn't look to pretty but it does help to keep the room nice and cool.I am cooling a room that gets direct sunlight but only about 20% of the window is letting light through due to curtains being partially closed. The room is 11 feet by 13 feet. I set the air conditioner at 74 degrees on "cool" and "high" and it keeps the room chilled to about 75.5 degrees with the bedroom door open.I have a 12,000 btu Honeywell in another room and I would guess that they are both as loud when running on high. You're not going to find an air conditioner that just hums quietly until they develop a battery powered electric motor like Tesla maybe. The noise level is acceptable although it won't be any quieter than a unit that fits directly into the window.Over-all I think this unit looks very nice, is easy to operate, runs at an acceptable noise level, and chills a small room sufficiently.

Perfect for Southern CA
We live in a house without A/C since it's not needed most of the time in this area and most homes don't have it, but with our infant son we needed to get something for those occasional hot days. This unit works great and cools down our 180 sq ft room perfectly. I've never owned a portable a/c before and was still able to get this unit from in the box to installed and blowing cold air in about an hour an a half. The window kit is not the most impressive but apparently none of them are. I used some foil tape to seal up the gaps in the window vent. My only complaint is the loud beeps it makes whenever you push any buttons. It also makes loud beeping noises when it shuts off with the timer (almost waking up our baby). Other than that, nice unit. The box does says it will cool up to 200 sq ft, but when I purchased it I'm pretty sure it was advertised as cooling up to 300 sq ft, just another side note.
