TargetEvo Stainless Steel Military Canteen 1QT Portable with 0.5QT Cup Green Cover Camping Hiking G.I.

The canteen and cup (the 1.2 quart size) appear to be pretty good quality, but the included canteen pouch is pretty lousy. The canteen lid doesn't leak, which is good, but the chain that holds the lid looks pretty flimsy. On the cover, the snap pulled out of the fabric the first time I tried to unfasten it, and the ALICE clips aren't real ALICE clips, but instead some cheap imitation ones made from sheet metal that don't work well at all. All in all, I'm satisfied with the canteen, but will be making a different cover/carrying pouch for it.

The canteens seem to be made of stainless steal as they say, but the cap and chain are not. The cap is made out of the cheapest plastic you can imagine. I put the cap on one time and it just broke. I ordered two canteens and the other one has not broke. However, I have never had this happen with any other bottle I have ever used. The cap on a .20 cent water bottle that you buy in a 32 pack is better than this one. The chain is also made of another metal that rusts, and is fairly weak, since it broke on my second bottle without trying. I would not recommend these bottles for these reasons. If you are interested in getting a stainless steal bottle look at thermoses. If you want something to boil water in for camping just buy a small camping pot.

I really like this canteen cup and lid.PROs: The lid fits snugly. A standard issue canteen slides in easily- more so than any of my issue cups.CONs: The metal is slightly, slightly thinner than issue cups. A canteen cup stove sleeve does not fit over it. I think I will keep working on to see if I can make one fit though. Definitely recommend.

The snap on the green cover fell off 5 minutes after I open the package. There was less glue holding it together than goes on the back of a postage stamp. As for it being stainless steel, the only thing my magnet stuck to was the chain that holds the cap to the canteen. Therefore I am thinking this is aluminum instead of stainless steel. I saw a cheaper version for $18.99 by different company, but opted to pay the extra two bucks for this one. I should have got the cheaper one. So just remember it doesn't always pay to spend more because there's no guarantee it will be a better item.

extremely cheap product, one snap broken on canteen sheath, the handle was broken off the canteen cup upon arrival, no external damage to box, so it didnt happen in transit.

ONLY reviewing the canteen/cup as the bag is obvious garbage. It doesn't close properly and the interior seams catch when pulling the cup out. The belt loops are located poorly as well, just don't use the bag for that and only put it inside when not in use.Canteen:Good quality just needs some cleaning to get the black grease out of the threads/edges.The only real problem is the cap design, ideally the cap would be solid plastic without the screw through it leaving possibility for rust (my screw was slightly crooked, not am issue to me)You can use a standard fish holder to latch it inside the mouth on the lip (it won't fall) but use two hands to handle the holder.Cup:Good quality pretty standard. You can break a brick of ramen in half and cook it inside.

I'm using a Evenew titanium alcohol burner with a Evernew titanium cross stand and this canteen cup. It makes a nice lightweight outfit and is easy to pack due to the shape of the canteen cup. The stove and stand fit inside the cup for compact storage.

The capacity os 1.2, and the lid is larger than GI canteen, so you can add ice and clean easily. The manufacturing was well done, and the canteen is polished to gloss. The only drawback is the cover. The closure is not well thought-out. It appears the manufacturer wanted to save the cost. The cover is roomy, and in itself, is well made, using a good material.
