The Univox is the home loop system that lets hard of hearing people clearly hear in groups, meetings and while listening to the TV or other audio sound systemsโeven in noisy places! Combined with your telecoil equipped devices, the Univox CLS-1 can help you hear beautiful clear sound again. The Univox CLS-1 is a compact yet powerful loop amplifier for areas up to 538 square feet (50m2). It is suitable for loop-installations in cashier offices and information counters. The CLS-1 developed for maximum power, versatility and ease of use and is equipped with Univox automatic volume control (Dual Action AGC) for a smooth sound experience. The thumb wheel volume control with digits for easily memorized setting of the right field strength level along with bass and treble controls secures pure sound quality. The metal case & effective cooling ensures long lasting problem free use. Connect the Univox CLS-1 to your TV, stereo, MP3, a microphone or any other sound source that you want to hear clearly. A super sensitive dedicated microphone input with 12V phantom power and signal strength potentiometer, a combined mic/line input and a line input makes it possible to connect your CLS-1 to virtually any sound source you like. Just place the loop pad on your chair, switch your devices to the T-Coil position and begin to hear crisp clear sound!

Easy to set up, but make sure your user has "telecoil" settings enabled on the hearing aid!
Works as advertised. One unfortunate fact: The unit can only take audio in via RCA jacks. New TVs like my Panasonic Viera have only a digital audio output (the abominable TOSLink cable, in my case). Thus, a Digital to Analog Converter is required. I tried Gefen's ... don't bother, the TOSLink connector jacks are too fragile and won't maintain a good connection. And do your homework ... some DACs decode Dolby output (but not regular PCM digital output), some are the other way around. Nonetheless, this unit works when I route the RCA output from the cable box to the hearing loop. Unfortunately, that means that when the hearing loop user 'mutes' the TV, he still hears it in his hearing aid. And it won't work for DVDs or streaming media since they don't go through the cable box. Oh well, it's better than having cable blasting at 135dB through the speakers, he can hear it through the loop quite well. Choose your next TV carefully if you need audio out!

Good sound
This unit does not include wire for constructing a loop around a room. The seat pad only works with the chair it is located under. If you move about the room when using the seat pad you lose the sound. However, the sound is very good when seated on the chair where the pad is located. I purchased wire and made my own room loop. I do not use the seat pad.

Amazing Product
This is the second Univox Loop system and it is truly an incredible system. My wife wears very powerful hearing aids, and even with them she needs to use closed caption or have the volume extremely loud. With the loop system she no longer needs closed captions. We watch a lot of PBS British programs and she says the clarity is amazing. We are very happy with the product and if your hearing aids have the correct settings in my opinion this is a no brainer.
