Sturdy and keeps the cold out
This version of the pet door is made really well and keeps the cold out much better with three flaps. The only issue I had was that the door I previously had with one flap (same brand) was larger. You would think there would be continuity within the brand, but I got it anyway because of it's quality and low price compared to other brands. I ended up cutting a three-foot wooden measuring stick into pieces to fill the gaps and nailed them in, which worked perfectly. Another thing to think about is that the cover for this dog door slides up and down on a track (which I like better) instead of the one flap cover that you push on and pull off. If I wanted to keep my dogs outside for any reason they could just push through the door cover. The only caveat about the three flap cover though is that if you have blinds that are set inside a door window (and have a frame) the dog door cover will hit the frame if you don't ease it off every time.

Easy to install and good for cold weather.
This was a replacement for PetSafe single flap screen door. It was straightforward to install and helps reduce the draft that we were getting with our previous door. My two small dogs were able to acclimate to the new door with no problem and my house isn’t fighting the cold draft as much as we did with the previous version of this door. The two exterior flaps and one center insulated flap really help to make sure that there is no air coming in.

Great door.
This is our third petsafe door. All have lasted many years. We only need a new one because we moved. No complaints. My 12 pound cat up to my 80 pound Doodle all used it with ease!! Kept out the wind and snow when we were in Montana. Keeps out the dust and bugs in Arizona.

Works well but very fickle to install...
Great product in general and once installed (I got the plastic version) due to reduced heat transfer, AZ 110+ outside in summer insulation might help...so it comes with 3 flaps, plastic screws 8×32 3" which I replaced with real ones as you can see. Plastic makes sense due to different thickness of each door but...metal screws are better of course. That being said the inner liner was easy to cut, instructions are provided and I didn't remove my door during install...cut out the recommended piece and be aware that screws are not necessarily meant to go through door but are simply on inside the cut open space. You could possible cut lesser area and drill holes but it works with the open hole. No need for pro installation, took me 40 min maybe...lining them up, getting the screws in is fickle work and I then used silicone to close gaps on top. I placed mine above left door panel (thinner and easier to cut out) edges of large version (I used here) are just wide enough to be on thicker door frame... Enjoy. Dogs love it and works well, once installed ;) Also the closure fits over it but only plastic and not too secure, no slider, just a snap on...place a metal brace over it from inside for those vacation days might improve security slightly if no one is home...as small child could potentially crawl through...

Repeat purchase due to high quality
This is our second time buying this exact doggie door. We have 5 dogs, which include 2 great danes, a german shephard, a bassett hound and a terrier mix. Despite the different sizes of our dogs, this XL door has worked beautifully for them all. When we decided to replace our back door with french doors we didnt hesitate but to get this same set up again. With so many dogs we have had some issues. The flaps get dirty over time and they will eventually break away from where they are screwed in at the top. They are easily replaced and at a very reasonable cost. I did invest in a metal top bar to replace the plastic one and this $10 expense (for two bars) dramatically reduced my need to replace the flap. I only replace it now when they are getting dirty looking. They triple layers have made the winter weather a non issue for us and we live in SE Pennsylvania. I'm thrilled with this door and recommend it highly

Mine is defected
So far this pet door seems to close well with minimal drafts, but there appears to be a defect with mine in that the tracks on the inside of the door for the cover aren't wide enough to fit it to close it. I can only close it from the outside, which isn't good for security.. not sure if I would want to bother uninstalling it and getting it replaced or trying to make my own cover for the inside out of sheet metal or something. Update: contacted customer support, they were great and are sending me a new one

This is a well made sturdy door flap that works well. It was not that easy to fit because of our door style, we had to pad out around the cut out so that the flap came out enough to allow the door flap shutter to slide in from the top and secure at night. The white plastic screws in the pack seemed flimsy but in use we realised they are slightly flexible which meant it was a lot easier to line up and secure. There were also metal screws for fitting the outer panel, I do see why the other screws are plastic and the door is very secure with them. Dog loves it and is in and out all day long and we dont have to be constantly getting up and down letting him out. Im glad we went for the metal version and the thermal flap, our dog does like to dash though the flap taking his toys with him occasionally which could have been an issue for a plastic flap. We chose not to take the door off to fit which made it more difficult it was much easier with two people helping to line things up. There are adjustment screws to allow the movement of the individual flaps on both sides to make sure it closes well, ours is closing fairly well but we will probably adjust slightly to make it perfect, meantime it does keep out any drafts and no colder than it was in the room. Thumbs up from us :)

This dog door is perfect, installation was fast and easy and the 3 flaps keep the cold air out nice. My 2 dogs are really happy they can go out whenever now .

Perfect size for our standard poodles. Was way more fiddly to install than the other single door one but we managed. It doesn’t stay closed in very strong winds so we’re a bit disappointed with that but still better than the single door. The dogs use it happily as they were used to the other one that is in the flyscreen door now. We are happy with it.
