Good book on a worthy subject
The Stalwart in particular, but the whole range of these 6x6 vehicles has always fascinated me.This volume provides a really good development history, and some information on each in service. Some of the clear strengths and weaknesses are shown up, along with a failure to develop to their full potential, as well as how advanced the Stalwart was at the time.To be honest, a much bigger volume would be required to do full justice to a very broad subject, but within the space available, BM has done an excellent job.My only regret is that I didn't buy up a stock of these when they were remaindered at less than a tenner, as the current prices being charged are blatant profiteering. Look around and be patient- they'll come up at reasonable prices.

Alvis Saracen Family
Alvis Saracen Family Having served on the vehicle as well as the Saladin, I was very keen to purchase the book. I have to say however that it was more than a little disappointing would be an understatement. Whilst the development of all four vehicles in the family, the Saladin, Saracen, Stalwart and Salamander is well documented, but their respective service life, normally combined with a number of relevant photographs, was to say the least, in my humble opinion, minimal. Again, in my opinion that is, the Paperback AFV Profile on the Saladin and to a lesser strength the rest of the family remains in my eyes at least the most informative. Sadly that is now well out of print.
