Great target, great price!
I purchased the AR500 Big Game Kill Zone target a week or so ago. I wasn't expecting it to arrive until sometime after the 1st of the year. However, when I went to pick up my mail yesterday, low and behold there it was. I was so excited. When I got home, I put a coat of fluorescent paint on it, just to help it stand out in my sights. After the paint dried, I attached chains and set it up at approx. 100 yds. I plinked it a few times with my AR-15 and checked for any damage. Nothing, nada, not a single dent. Just the paint was chipped off from the rounds bouncing or disintegrating against it. This is a target that will stand up to the punishment and last a lifetime. I've made targets previously out of mild steel that work OK, but soon become punched full of holes. I can already tell that won't be the case with this target. I love it, and look forward to pounding the heck out of it. As a plus, the shipping was super quick. A great target at a super price! I've now added a second photo that shows what .223 does at 100 yards.

Heavy duty, but...
These are definitely AR 500. I tested them with my M & P .223 at 50 yards, and barely a ding was made. I bought 5 of these at a reasonable price to be used at my outdoor range, and got the chains also just to save me a trip to the store. My only qualm with these was the way they were shipped. Oh my, I was so sad for the mailman as the package had come apart and the pieces were everywhere. Again, 5 gongs of various sizes and 5 sets of chains were ordered by me, and they were crammed in one USPS box with a board in the bottom to supposedly secure them. Of course, the box couldn't handle the weight. It was in shambles. My friendly postman, thank God, is a nice fellow who made sure I got all of my order. Please guys, I will order from you again if you promise not to use a flimsy, tiny box to ship my stuff. Maybe you can use multiple boxes.Otherwise, I'm happy.

If you're working with younger / less experienced shooters this is the way to go to get focus
Amazing target. Came 100% ready to hang and shoot. The center gong will flip all the way over so you can paint it with standard marking paint to provide better visual aiming spot. The kids loved it and it provides immediate feedback to the shooter. I got these because my son was having a hard time focusing on center of target and not looking at the whole thing when we were shooting at paper stapled to 4' x 4' corrugated plastic. He would see the whole target and not be able to group his shots very well, this target fixed it immediately. Hung ours from 92" shepard's hooks and after adjusting a little for the twist due to the weight it worked perfectly. Several hundred rounds of .45 and 10mm at it not even a scratch, you can see impacts, but that is the bullet exploding on contact - zero marks on the steel. Liked this one and the 10" gong so much I bought another one. Now we can have more active and focused practice time without having to walk out and score holes then cover them up!Have not shot them with rifles yet, but after looking at them and working with them on handgun range I have no doubt they will take a pounding from .308s at range.Cannot say enough good things about this target. Would recommend to anyone.Added a photo of it after a few rounds of .45 ACP. That is all led you are seeing....zero surface damage....30 seconds with a pressure washer - quick hit of paint on center and It's all new again. Would give this thing 6 stars if I could.

The most fun you can have with a steel plate!
This gong is a lot of fun to shoot. Hearing the "ding" every time a bullet hits it is satisfying (borderline addicting) and a nice change from shooting paper. The steel is top notch quality so it has not had any problem to standing up to .308. I also bought a can of fluorescent green paint to paint bright circle in the center to give a bit more contrast when shooting from a distance. Overall I really love it. Should have bought this a long time ago. The price is excellent for this quality of gong and seller had it in my hands just a couple days after ordering.Oh, one word of caution I would like to share. I personally would not recommend using a handgun with a gong unless you can hit it from a good distance, say more than 50 yards away. Recently when requalifying for my firearm certification (work in LE), a colleague had a .40 round bounce off of the metal target support and hit her in the leg at 15 yards. It could have been much worse had it hit her somewhere more critical. Probably a freak occurrence but with a flat, steel plate, the odds of a reflected round are even greater. Take care and God bless.

Let me see that gong ga gong gong gong
I have owned the 10" gong made of 1/2" steel for 2 years now. I've shot it quite a bit with .223, 5.56, 7.62x39, 30-06 (M1 Garand), .308, 9mm, 45 ACP, and more. It's been a while since I purchased, but I think I remember a recommendation of not shooting it with high velocity rounds at a range of less than 100 yds. I ignored that recommendation, and it still has held up really well. I will say that shooting it with the 5.56 and the 30-06 at a range of ~85 yds did leave little indentations in the metal that look like chicken pox scars. Despite those marks, the gong still works fine - no bending or warping of the metal. When you shoot it according to recommendation, the bullets just splatter and disintegrate off the face of the gong. I respected the flip side of the gong, and it still looks brand new. Just an observation - I don't really get a big "gongggg" sound off of this thing. Mostly just a metal splat/clank sound. Perhaps the 3/8" steel with a larger gong might give you a little more vibration and resulting "gonggg" sound if that's what you are looking for.
