Very good read

It's what I expected

It is interesting that, when I first read Catch 22 as a college student, I did not relate it to the Vietnam War per se. I understood it as a general anti-war novel. Reading the book again, as a 78 year old, I have found the book painful at times to read. Scenes with lustful airmen and lustful Roman women are no longer funny, but profoundly sad - which I think Joesph Heller was trying to tell us. Battle descriptions did not move me as much as a young man who believed himself to be immortal, as they have now when I am certain that I am not immortal! It is still a good book, but much sadder now than it was so long ago

I had read this years ago and decided to revisit it.Didn't remember much about it,but after a reread must agree that it's repetitive and too long.If you can push tbrough to the end you will be surprised just how much insanity could be crammed in such a small space.As a soldier,I had met every character in this book and my cynicism mirrored that of Yossarian.

Very well printed edition of a classic. I am once again enjoying this great story.

Absolutely loved everything about this book. If you enjoy satire and historical fictions you couldn't ask for a better book. Heller does a fantastic job demonstrating the hypocrisy and selfishness of military leadership.

Book condition was better than expected and the price was half the other Prime books. Huge thank you to Closel Books!!

It was unreadable, yellowed pages, ripped spine.

More readable that expected. 1 chapter a night.Very well written. As I read I just keep thinking of Alan Alda's M*A*S*H

Embora o livro seja uma crítica à guerra, é possível ver no tratamento desse artigo também uma sátira às normas burocráticas no estilo de Kafka. O personagem principal, Yossarian, faz de tudo para ser dispensado, sem que consiga - enquanto isso, seu comandante vai aumentando o número de missões que suas tripulações devem desempenhar, unicamente para se tornar famoso nos EUA e obter uma promoção.Os personagens do livro têm, cada um, uma dose de absurdo, e a narrativa vai e volta nos eventos, sem uma indicação clara de uma linha de tempo - portanto, a história não se desenrola linearmente, o que exige um pouco de concentração na leitura. Esta tradução portuguesa é muito boa e se torna interessante para o leitor brasileiro por causa das expressões idiomáticas usadas pelo tradutor.No final, você é levado a concluir sardonicamente que a guerra é uma coisa séria demais para ser deixada nas mãos dos militares.
