Sesame Street - The Great Numbers Game [VHS]

I was talking about this movie to a friend with kids and while babysitting I showed it to the kids they liked it. It was exactly as I remember. The great numbers game and the alphabet jungle are a classic pairing

My daughter, age 2, will tell you that this is Elmo and Telly's video, and that she loves it. As a parent, I will share with you that my little one has number recognition to 20 thanks to these classic counting cartoons. I was pleased to see that they had included such classics as the King of Eight.We own several of Sesame Street's counting videos, but this one is by far the best. My daughter enjoys the "video game" - type format (Elmo and Telly are trapped inside a video game and have to work their way to 20 to get out), but I like that the number focus does not stop at 10, as is the case for many preschool videos.As a teacher, this video would be good for students who need number recognition reinforcement or for English Language Learners.

This video is not one of the better Sesame Street videos I've seen. My 2 year old son was excited to get it because he's an Elmo fan, but all through the video he keeps asking "Where did Elmo go?" That's because Elmo is hardly in the video. Instead, he shows up only occassionally after very disjointed counting segments. Very disappointing for my son. Also, the so-called plot of being inside a game is weak. Rather than Elmo and Telly actually finding the numbers, which is supposed to be the premise of the story, the video just goes from short cartoons about one number to the next. I do think it's educational and my son will watch it - or at least part of it -occassionally but it's definitely not one of his (or my) favorites.

We have played "The Great Numbers Games" for all our grandchildren. This is over a span of about 14 years. All four of them like it and when they come to our house they will normally ask us to play it for them. While it is on they sing along with the video and act out some of the parts of the game. This should be a required class room video for ALL preschool and perhaps kindergarten children. I highly recommend this video.

The Great Numbers Game has great catching tunes that get your toddler & preschoolers to learn to count from 1-20 in no time flat. I really don't understand the complates about this video having no plot. This vidoe is made for toddlers and preschoolers not school age kids. I'm a home daycare provider. My toddlers and preschoolers love to sing along to this video. I love watching the old cartoons that I watched as a child.

Videos are one of the few things my disabled son can control in his life, and this is one of h is favorites. He accidentally broke the original, and has been mourning for months, till I thought of looking for it on Amazon.com. He's a happy guy now!

We owned this and gave it away when my son got older but we really enjoy the songs on it so I repurchased a copy. Cute DVD
