Bial HO 12.8" (32.5cm) Diamond Coated Knife Sharpening Stainless Steel Sharpener

All other diamond steel rods I've ever used didn't have grooves like this one does so I was skeptical this was the real deal. I thought they just sent me a stainless steel honing rod. However, this product seems to work and it works well. It took a completely dull kitchen knife, one that couldn't even cut a mushroom (it was smashing them instead), and sharpened it. Razor sharp. Whether it is diamond coated or diamond steel, I couldn't tell you. But I am sure it will sharpen any blade you want to sharpen with ease as long as you know the technique to using it properly. Great product. Great price. Can't complain. Only gave it 4 stars because I can't be sure if the product is represented correctly as diamond coated.

I received a full refund from the seller which is a huge plus for them as this was not a Diamond Coated Steel as stated. A big plus for the seller to make good on a wrongly labeled item!! Need to change the description to a regular stainless steel knife steel!!I cannot tell if this is a diamond coated steel or not?? Feels and looks and acts like a regular old stainless steel one?? Comes in a generic white box with a small label and no paperwork whatsoever!! Makes me wonder because the surface is smooth and looks just like any other steel?? I have other diamond steels and the coating is rough and can be felt with your fingers. No grit to this, just smooth like a regular steel???

For all the claims made that there is a diamond coating on this. It may have granulated diamond, but it does not seem to be very effective. I believe that a ceramic one of similar design would work far better. Not very happy with this product.

This is unusual in that there are lengthwise grooves in the rod unlike most other diamond coated sharpeners I am accustomed to. Works well.

bought this for my DIL, her knives were dull and wouldn't cut into anything. She wanted to know why my knifes were sharp all the time. So as a surprise I gave her this. Works like a charm, no more dull knives. I would recommend this item to anyone.

Handle was loose right out of the box.

Being my first steel, I don't have anything to really compare to. It works without issue. You'll need something else if you're dealing with knives that are chipped, but for regular maintenance, this does a fine job.
