Since there isn't much info on these, I figured I'd put in my two cents for those who are curious.I received my product yesterday, the brakes shipped very quickly and were packed fairly well.(Edit) One of the rotors is pretty crooked. I will work on straightening it out but that was a bit disappointing to discover.(Edit two) The rear caliper is built in such a way that the outside brake pad keeps rubbing the rotor. I tried adjusting this, but the entire caliper is nearly touching the rotor, or actually is touching. I will have to either add a shim to my non-drive side axle to push the caliper out or file down the mounting plate for the caliper, which is pretty disappointing. Took a star away. The rotors were rubber banded and wrapped in bubble, with some cardboard in-between to keep them from rubbing (I pack for an online bike reseller so this is a nice touch). The bolts WERE enclosed in a small plastic bag, but my package was full of loose bolts. It appears that the bottom of my bolt baggie was sliced open, so the parts were moving about. Not a big deal, everything else was wrapped well and the intent was obviously there. The rotors are under another piece of cardboard, I almost didn't see them but they were packed well with slips of tissue paper between to prevent scratching.Altogether, the product is packed very well to assure everything should arrive in the same condition it left the factory in.I've never worked with mechanical disc brakes, so it's hard for me to compare. Everything appears to be well made: the rotors were flat and true, the calipers looked like calipers. The brake pads are packaged in the calipers with a small piece of cardboard between to keep them from scratching and chipping. The adjustment for the caliper looks a little iffy, but I'm sure it works. There are two bolts and a set of concave and convex washers, similar to what you would find on most brake pads to allow slight adjustment of the camber of the caliper as well lateral adjustment.I bought a crappy disc comparable off craigslist for 10 bucks to try out with this kit. I was not able to remove the old rotor, which was slightly warped. I'll probably get a nicer wheelset later.Installing the caliper was easy, but calibrating it is a different story. Theoretically, this should be simple (or so the internet says): Loosen your adjusting bolts, squeeze your brake lever, and tighten the bolts to get it centered. Adjust your inner brake pad to where it barely touches the rotor, then back off a bit. Repeat for the outer brake pad using your barrel adjuster or by adjusting your cable tension.Because my rotor was slightly warped, I had to set my pads a bit wide, which meant that I had to squeeze my brake lever a good bit before it would engage. Also, any time I adjusted the tension on the pinch bolt for the cable, the caliper would move a bit, which meant re-adjusting that again. Hopefully you aren't doing this with a warped rotor.I took the bike for a spin around the block (I only did the front wheel) and attempted to break the pads in by applying light pressure on the lever while pedaling. I went a little faster and squeezed the lever a bit more gradually. I probably need to break the pads in more but the stopping power was weak. It was also very cold out so I wonder if any condensation developed on the rotor after the temperature change from the house.Upgrading pads in the future won't be a big deal, pads aren't much and considering the price of these, totally worth it. I don't see how these would be very different than BB5s, for a much cheaper price. I didn't hear any of the dreaded BB5 squeaking, which is good but I also need to go on a longer ride to see if that develops.I'll revise this as needed, but anyone who is curious about these should go for it. If you want to spend more, at least there will be more information on what you are getting. If you are building a beater, these are cheap as all get out and will work with your standard brake levers.Future updates probably won't be this detailed because my girlfriend is currently out of the country and I have been very bored. I reviewed all of my Amazon purchases for the past 6 months today. I'll try to be informative, though.- Jim

Beware of possible problems
This product is a very mixed bag. Perhaps I was just unlucky, but I had serious issues with it. Lets start with the good part - it is a complete set, which is a very enticing. The calipers are easy to install and adjust. The bad part - my rotors had a very significant (almost 0.2 mm) difference in rotor thickness around the perimeter. This created and absolutely awful pulsing of the brakes from the very first ride. This pulsing made the brakes unusable and dangerous. On top of that these rotors are very very loud (squealy). The pulsing and the noise was equally bad on both front and rear wheel. I had to purchase a set of Shimano rotors to remedy both of these problems. I ended up using Shimano rotors with the calipers from this set and they do work well - no pulsing and the noise during braking is very minor. I'm keeping the calipers and tossing away the rotors.

great for budget build
i gave these 3 stars cause the discs are good but, one of my calipers came with a cross threaded adjuster bolt on the inside pad and could not be turned so i played around with the setting and got the brake to work but, only with a full pull of the brake lever. after 100 miles the pad had only worn down a little bit but, it was enough to cause the berrings in the lever to slip, causing the brake to fail to bring me to a stop, i flintstoned it though and was able to stop in time. as far as the other caliper that wasn't cross threaded, it works great brings, the bike to a slow stop by itself, just not fast stops. bottom line if your on a budget get these. it has decent discs and the brakes pad didn't wear down much and i'm using them on a 35 mph electric bicycle that weighs 40 lbs with my 180 lbs but, don't use if cross threaded like mine was.

I have only one ride on these brakes since I had them installed but I cannot complain one bit. They performed very well. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong with the choice. I had to buy an adapter in order to mount the rear caliper but it was only $16. My bike is old though: (2001 Gary Fisher Sugar 2). Of course going from rim to disc brakes I had to buy new wheels, so overall expenses including the new Bontrager wheels ($189) and the bike shops labor ($30) it was just over $332 all together. The front caliper fit without an adapter since it is a fairly new fork.Bottom line; for the price you can't go wrong in my humble opinion.

Great for the price
Work as well out of the box as BB7 & even better after 50 miles or so. We'll see if the red anodized bearing covers hold their color over the next year, but they really pop next to the red rims on my fat bike. Standard allen wrench pad adjustments. Rotors were straight & light but not flimsy. Good torx rotor bolts included with loctite pre-applied. This was a budget upgrade & took a chance & I was very surprised at quality. I have more expensive Avid & Gusset mech disks but would not hesitate to buy these again if they become available in US.

Well made and really pretty
I should have been more careful in opening the package, I dropped the screws on the floor.Upon opening the box I was impressed with the look of quality. I loved the red anodized piece in the center. The screws already had lock tite on them and fit my hub.The breaks came with two spacer brackets, I didn't need a bracket on the front, but on the back I couldn't use the bracket supplied and needed to buy a bracket made for 210mm breaks to mount the calipers on the frame and clear the rotor. There were no directions, but through using spacer washers to position the wheels from side to side I was able to make the brakes work properly and not drag when riding. My son is very pleased with his single speed 29er now that he has these disk brakes.

Worth it!
I have not had time to put this Disc Brake to the test, but from what I see of it, it will work just fine, and it looks to be made of quality products in Mfg. it. I'am building an electric bicycle type trike, with 3/4" axle. I think it is worth the money!
