New Front Fender Access Panel Trim Wheelhouse Cover Fit for BMW X1 SC-51712993140

These are replacement panels for the headlight access panels in the front wheel wells of a 2013 BMW X1. These replacements panels are somewhat less substantial than the original panels but not significantly so. Each panel has two circular rotating keys that lock the panels in place. One of those keys in the new replacement panels was completely broken upon arrival. I was replacing them because those circular keys are badly designed and become ruined and unusable with usage. One of the four old keys was in good enough shape to remove and reuse on the new panel with failed key so I just removed, cleaned and reused it on the new panel. The slot for turning the key is so shallow and wide that even wide blade screw drivers tear it up after a couple of turns. The replacement recreates the bad design accurately so it's no better than the original and very frustrating to use. The low rating is because they sent a broken part and recreated the part less substantially than the original. Having said that I've installed them on my vehicle and they'll get the job done until I need to replace a headlight bulb again.
