Quick fix and worked perfect
My filter started leaking out of the top. All the google searches pointed to replacing the seal. I was skeptical because the seal looked to be in perfect condition, but when I replaced it with this one, the leak was fixed perfectly.

OEM parts work best
This part is a perfect fit on my 207 filter. The old ring gasket needed to replacement. It stopped the canister leak.

good
Does exactly as stated. Took a bit long for the rubber to expand and close the seal entirely, but the filter is sealed now (took about a day) and it's running smoothly.

Fluval Motor Seal Ring for Fluval 204/205 with kudos to Amazon.com
It's an "O" ring. It goes around the motor and seals to the body. If you use a Fluval 204 or 205 on your tank, you will replace it sooner or later. If it goes bad, why 5 stars instead of 1, 2, or 3?First off, if you use a canister filter of any brand, you have an "O" ring, and it's going to leak (fail) sooner or later, depending on how you take care of it. Silicon grease liberally applied to the ring prolongs life. Petroleum jelly does not. My original ring lasted about two and a half years, due to lack of proper servicing on my part. The Fluval line itself is fine - excellent in fact.Secondly, and most important, Is the service I received from Amazon.com. To explain: my filter started leaking (gushing into the capture bucket) just before Christmas and just after the deadline for Christmas eve delivery (Yea, it sucks to be me.). Amazon said the ring would arrive Friday or Saturday with regular shipping. That's a long time to wait when you have a planted tank with a batch of fish and no filtration. Unfortunately, nobody offers better. And, knowing mail during the Christmas season, I resigned myself to a probable Monday delivery. That means lots of water changes until it arrives. Friday afternoon after I had gone to bed - I work third shift on the weekends - the ring arrived. That is exceptional service! Remember, this order went in at their crunch time when everyone at Amazon was busting their *** to get product out. The service is superior! For those that have canister filters on your aquariums, keep a spare motor seal ring - in the original sealed package - around. Get some silicon grease (not the "waterproof grease") from your local big box hardware and grease that ring every time you break the filter down to clean it.

Order one before you need it.
If you have a Fluval canister filter you should order one of these; so you have it ready for the day you'll need it. The one that came with my filter lasted about 10 months before it started leaking. Replacing it was easy and stopped the leak. I've since ordered a second one and keep it on hand, just in case...I only clean my with a wet paper towel to prevent build up on it. The one that came with my filter lasted about 10 months before it started leaking. It always eye opening to see how much gunk gets one these rings while its installed. Don't use cleaning chemicals on the O-ring, they will harm it by melting the surface or hardening it, both of which will cause it to fail prematurely.I've since ordered a second one and keep it on hand, just in case...

Works Great
I have the Fluval 206 and this gasket solved a small leak that I ended up having. Be sure to replace this gasket every year or so.
