My go to race tyre for my triathlon bike
I recently purchased the Continental GP5000 tyre for my road bike, and I am blown away by the quality and performance of this tyre. The GP5000 is hands down the best road tyre I have ever used. Firstly, the installation process was seamless - I was able to fit the tyre onto my rim without any issues. The tyre feels incredibly durable and well-made, which gives me the confidence that it will last for many miles to come. But what really sets this tyre apart is its performance on the road. The grip is outstanding, both in wet and dry conditions. I feel much more confident when cornering at high speeds with this tyre, as it provides excellent traction and stability. Additionally, the tyre rolls very smoothly and efficiently, which has helped to improve my overall speed and performance on the bike. Overall, I cannot recommend the Continental GP5000 tyre highly enough. It is a top-quality product that offers unbeatable performance and durability. If you're looking for a new road tyre, this is the one to get!

Great roadie tire!
Okay to the nitty gritty on these. First off, I have ridden most every major road bike tire there is in the 23 sizing which is my preferred size. For the past several years the Continental tires have been my chosen. These being the newest top end road tire while expensive I chose to mount up on a new old ride I bought. I as usual inspected the unmounted tires for issues and none were obvious so no points away there. My next goal was fit on the wheelset which was as expected in a roadie tire......tight initial fit but seated perfectly. To the road we go to give initial impressions where rubber meets asphalt. So far they track well, grip in a straight line is on par to what one expects, cornering is nice with no noticeable slipping in both leading tire and trailing tire. This test was even on asphalt with sand near the coast. No apparent sidewall issues or even middle of tire where more than 95% road contact is. So far very happy. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars for (value) is that these are pricey. If the price point were like $75 a pair then a perfect 5 all around. All in all a great road tire capable if racing and for the avid amateur cyclist like myself. I recommend them and if found cheaper than $100 a pair in the range I stated then pony up and buy the set.

Best value out there
These are great tires at a reasonable price and they arrived fast. I’ve tried many others and these are pretty durable and very fast!!!!

Great Tire with Grip
I went from Gator Skins to Grand Prix 5000 as my cycling friends highly recommended them. I live in San Francisco and the roads are notoriously filled with glass and debris - flats are always prevalent. My Gator Skins lasted forever but I always felt a drag and heavy feel to them. Cornering wasn't as smooth and easy and I just felt I wasn't connected to the pavement. I updated to the GP's and holy wow - major difference. I feel smoother, faster, and more in control. The downside? I have had 3 flats in 3 months. I had zero flats in 2 years with my Gator Skins. The trade off is worth it however. I feel more in control and am able to gain those PRs on Strava now without feeling like I'm careening down the hillside praying to the gods I don't crash. I don't think you'll regret purchasing these but make sure you care an extra tube at all times.

Still the 23mm training clincher benchmark for dry weather road biking.
For those still running 23c tires on 17mm internal width or smaller rims, these tires are lightweight, offer great traction and feedback and handle amazing in dry weather. For dry weather training rides on narrow aluminum clincher wheels, these are my go-to tires. They roll very well without the dull feeling I've gotten from other brand tires. They don't slip or spin-out as much when out of the saddle climbing steep hills or uneven surfaces. I'm able to hold speed on long downhills without feeling like I need to pedal. Over the years since these replaced the Conti 4000s2, I've been through many sets of tires and ridden many thousands of miles on training rides as well as organized events and local charity rides. I follow Reginald Scot and tend to agree with many of his opinions including that very wide tires on road bikes don't always make sense (an image of monster truck tires on a sports car comes to mind). In summary, these GP 5000 clincher tires in 23mm give more road feedback, slightly less comfort, offer lighter spinning weight for getting up climbs easier and roll just as well (at 82-78 psi) as my aired-down (75-71 psi) 25mm GP 5000s.

Better luck the second time around
I was excited to get these given my past experience with the 4000s and I received them on 7/11/2020. I took them out for a 30-mile ride on 7/14 and a 25-mile ride on 7/17 (today). I always inspect my tires after a ride and in doing so I was very troubled to discover that these had already incurred damage and that the rubber seemed to be degrading - see pictures. I ride a triathlon bike and never take it on gravel, crushed stone, or dirt and I did not hit any potholes during my two rides. I've always been loyal to Continental and this is the first time I have ever had an issue with one of their products - not sure what went wrong for them with the 5000s. Needless to say, I am returning these tires and will be going back to the 4000s. UPDATE 7/22/2020: I decided to purchase another set of the 5000s due to my loyalty to Continental and trust in the quality of their products. I'll update again on the quality and performance of these tires once I have 500+ miles on them. UPDATE 8/12/2020: I’ve put 800+ miles on these since my second purchase. I’m pleased that this set has lived up to my expectations. They roll fast and smooth and I have yet to get a flat (knock on wood). I’ve upgraded my rating from a one star to a four star. I would give these a full five stars if it were not for my experience with the first set. Overall, I would absolutely recommend these.

No scientific experiment done to compare their performance with others, but they do what they are supposed to... roll on asphalt.
