It performs (almost) as advertised.
My previous Splitter could only work with both TV sets powered, otherwise you would get intermittent video on the one set you were watching. This product took care of the problem and now I don't have to turn on every set to get it to work properly. I also got 5.1 audio on the home theater system despite the fact that the secondary TV set connected to it only has stereo audio capability. I read somewhere that the splitter derates audio quality to the least common denominator of all devices connected to it, but this does not seem to be the case here. The only minor annoyance is that sometimes when you turn the second TV on, a 28" wireless capable Vizio (I only have two connected at this time with the other two ports open), there is no audio and poor video. The problem can be corrected every time by just recycling the power on the Directv HD DVR receiver, a 10 second affair. It does not always do it, but when it does, the solution is simple. My main TV set, a Panasonic connected to the #1 port never displays this behavior, go figure...I am perfectly happy with the setup and the only reason for not giving it the 5 stars was the minor glith described above, a small price to pay for the ability to split your HDMI video signal amongst different TVs.

4 port HDMI powered splitter
The seller did not say that resolution on all outputs would be reduced to the highest resolution of the lowest rated device that was connected. However, it does plainly explain this in the user manual, and to allow different resolutions for different outputs would be significantly better, but probably much more expensive, and by using the lowest resolution device, hopefully all devices will be usable. Also, if the splitter is reset by removing power (it retains the lower resolution until it is reset), it loses memory and will reset to the higher output if that is the device that it is currently seeing. Also, once a device with a lower output is connected or powered up, the devices may have to be powered down once or twice to work with the splitter. As one of my TVs is 720p, one 1080i and two are 1080p, I decided the best solution was to set the DVR to 1080i even though this leaves a small black area around the 1080p TVs. I also decided it would be best to not use my 720p TV in this setup because I do not want to use that low a resolution on the primary TV (my DVR is my computer) or to have to reset the splitter after using the 720p TV.

Great Value, Works Perfectly
I purchased this "used" from "J & R Galaxies". It was advertised as "used and tested and repackaged" and for that came with a price reduction. When I obtained this splitter, it appeared to be new. It was perfectly packaged and worked perfectly. I am using this as an HDMI splitter for my home. I have a "Time Warner" cable box with only one HDMI output. I wanted to send that HDMI signal to another TV in my home. I used this powered splitter with a "Media Bridge", 3' cable from the cable box to the splitter and then a PTC, 100', amplified cable run to another TV. This splitter is advertised as "powered" and did indeed come wtih a 5 volt power supply which I of course used. The 100' cable has an amplifier in it as well. This "View HD" splitter has been working perfectly for about a month now. It transmits BOTH video and audio (as HDMI should) perfectly. The 100' cable run is through my basement ceiling and runs the length of my house. There is about a 3 to 4 second delay between channel changes with this powered splitter AND the 100', amplified cable run. I suspect that is because the HDMI signal must need to be synchronized if going through amps. I tried this without the 100' cable using another 3' cable from the splitter to a TV and that dropped the delay in channel changing to about 1 or 2 seconds. That does not bother me but if you are a "channel surfer" and expect to rapidly "click" through channels, this might be a problem for you. I suspect this would be a characteristic of any amplifed splitter/switch or cable. After shopping for a 4 port splitter, I found this to be an excellent value and it works perfectly for me. I have not tried this with a full 1080p, HDMI signal, only with by cable box output but so far, it works perfectly for me.UPDATE, 4 YEARS LATER: Yikes, it is hard to believe that it has been 4 YEARS that I have been using this HDMI splitter. It is now March of 2014 and I am very pleased to report that IT IS STILL WORKING FLAWLESSLY. This was a very great deal. Remember, I purchased this "used" and it arrived and appeared "new". Either way, this device just works and here it is, 4 years later with constant use of splitting my "Time Warner Cable" TV box output for four televisions and this splitter continues to work perfectly.I would most heartily recommend this product.UPDATE: Wow, it's hard to believe that I purchased this device on February 16th, 2010. THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO. This little box is still quietly sitting behind my "Time Warner Cable" box and splitting my one output from that box for my three TV sets. It has been working flawlessly for these last 7 years. I remain incredibly pleased with this device and still heartily recommend this product.

having problems with it, still trying to make it work......
I'm having problem with this splitter, that is it's not functioning as a would have expected. Here is the set-up:input: Dish Network HD receiver @ 720p -- 6 foot hdmi cableoutput #1: 6 ft hdmi cable -- excellent video/audio @720Poutput #2: 50 ft hdmi cable -- excellent video/audio @720Poutput #3: 50 Ft hdmi -- bad video snowy, skippy -- audio cuts in/out. @720Poutput #4: 50 ft hdmi - exact same problem as on ouput port #3. Bad video/audio, cuts in/out. @720PI have sent an e-mail to the seller, JR Galaxies. (They do not publish a phone number) I will update this review if they get back to me and the situation is corrected. So far 60 bucks wasted as I have not been able to make my project functional.Update: I have received follow-up from the seller that included tips to diagnose my problems. It appears that my problem with ports 3&4 may be due to cheap HDMI cable. I have moved this product up to 3 stars from one. I will revise again after I get new higher quality cables and can determine if all 4 output ports will work simultaneously.
