We needed fun activities for a long vacation car ride and found this book. My 8 yr old daughter has never played Sudoku but has seen me play and showed interest. There are several "Sudoku for kids" type books but I felt this one seemed like the best introductory book for her. It starts with easy 4x4 sudoku puzzles with a whole page of explanation of how Sudoku works. I basically just sat her down and showed her the rules with a 4x4 puzzle and she picked it up pretty fast. She did a few 4x4's and then progressed to 6x6 which are the next step up in the book. Admittedly, the 6x6's were a little confusing for me because I am used to 9x9 size puzzles, but she seemed to have no problem understanding them. The book then progresses to 8x8's and 9x9's. I would say the first 4x4 puzzles were relatively easy for her after she understood the concepts so she skipped ahead to bigger puzzles. The variety of puzzles provides an array of difficulty for kids new to Sudoku. There are plenty of puzzles (probably several hundred; 4-6 per page times more than 100 pages) and the book will not be completed too quickly. It definitely is still lasting after our vacation. It would take quite a bit of time to finish the book, which means it will last. Definitely recommend for intro to Sudoku. There are probably better books out there if you are already skilled in Sudoku.

This collection is great for kids who are learning Sudoku. It gives a variety of difficulty levels at a variety of sizes, letting them work their way up to traditional puzzles.

Item came quickly and was perfect for my 8 yo.

If it didn’t say on the cover that it was for smart kids only, it would have been a great book for adults that know nothing about soduku and wanted to work up to hard puzzles. The instructions and step by step guide in the beginning allows this book to be picked up by any person with any skill level. I got this for my nieces (ages 7 and 9) as a Christmas/birthday gift, figuring they’ll either team up and play it or they’ll split up with the younger one doing some of the easier puzzles and the older one doing the more difficult ones.The best part is this book will grow with them or even become a whole family endeavor with the adults working the hardest puzzles.I would also recommend this book for teachers. This will keep kids working and learning patterns, math and problem solving. It covers a broad range of difficulty levels as another reviewer pointed out.Best of all, it was really fairly priced.

My 6-year old grandson took to this book, and has now taken up sudoku. Perfect intro level progressing in difficulty.

It arrived in time with no damage. The quality is great and it is full of excellent sudoku puzzles starting from easy to difficult. At the end there is solutions to each one. Strongly recommend if your kid likes Sudoku!
