Make your own healthier crackers
You can make crackers with whatever ingredients fit your diet with this book. I have long had to replace ingredients with better ingredients that fit my diet, so I have cooked from scratch for years! This book is great, because it tells how to make crackers from scratch. It includes gluten free crackers too. And with this book, I can use better incredients that fit my diet. Like low sugar, low salt, whole grain,,, I could go on. I replace all purpose flour with a healthier flour. I really like this book.

This is FUN !!
I like this book because it is simple, not a lot of fancy ingredients. The method is very simple and with the new rolling pins they have out these days , it' s a snap to roll 1/16". New rolling pins are adjustable or have rings to roll right to your specific thickness. One thing I love about this book is that Amy uses many different kinds of flour. It makes so much difference and really adds interesting flavors. I have had a lot of fun making crackers and when I come in to work they ask "did you bring any crackers??" before they even say "good morning!". Also worth noting is that crackers do not have all the fat and sugar that cookies have. You can roll the dough in seeds to give lots of crunch.

Two perspectives - in one this is a disappointment, in the other very valuable
In one sense, I found this book a disappointment. It contains two basic recipes - one for crackers with gluten, one for crackers without gluten. The remainder is variations and at the end a few dips. In a second sense, I find this book extremely useful providing approximately 50 variations on the basic recipe teaching one how to manipulate flours, liquids, add-ins and seasonings to obtain the crackers that are perfect for your need. This function is supplemented by cheese, dips and spread pairings suggestions. The book does not provide very much generic information - history, methods, problem-solving. But the basic recipe is simple and hard to screw up.Examples of recipes:- balsamic vinegar and brown rice crackers- beer and rye crackers- cardamom and whole wheat crackers- carrot and millet crackers- dried cranberry and graham crackers- Hungarian paprika and cornmeal crackers- mint crackers- pistachio crackersBut no, if you are looking for Sardinian Parchment crackers or Indian pappadums, this is not the book for you. Instead look at something like Crackers & Dips: More than 50 Handmade Snacks

... this book would provide all one needed to make excellent crackers. Sadly that is not the case as ...
If only the instructions lived up to the cover photo and promised implication that this book would provide all one needed to make excellent crackers. Sadly that is not the case as the writer fails to provide information such as just what effect on the finished product is, for example, more or less wet the dough; . what does the oil contribute to the finished cracker....how does the relative quantity effect the finished cracker,...that using corn meal in a cracker will produce an objectional (to some) gritty finished product unless one processes even the fine meal a bit to become more like flour...or how using a pasta roller will make the most uniform thickness..what causes dough to fail to stay together when rolled. (hint- too many seeds is one cause) .and who knows what else she has neglected to provide. A waste of money this with so much more useful information at one's fingertips via the internet.

Crakers and you.
I recently made a recipe from this book the tomato basil crackers. The first try they didn't come out good but the second batch a few days lady came out really well. I'm looking forward to make other types of crackers from this book.

Loved it, loved the one recipe I tried
Loved it, loved the one recipe I tried, and was looking forward to years of usage -- then my dog loved the book. (Somehow he got hold of it and gnawed half of it away!)

way over-priced
I buy baking books so often that I can tell how much a baking book would cost. If this is a book that I find at a store, I would definitely not buy it at this price. I love making crackers and I was attracted by the cover of this book. I even pre-ordered this book and have waited for it to arrive. It finally came today and I was extremely disappointed. It is about 1/2 the size of a regular baking book with zero pictures. The paper quality is inferior compared to all my other baking books and the glossy cover is deceptive. As for the recipes, all of them use the same basic ingredients but add different spice or flavouring to make them look different. Therefore, none of the recipes are actually unique. Then again, it was my fault for not checking the number of illustrations and size of the book. Guess I deserved being ripped off.
