LEADERSHIP: Essential Selections on Power, Authority, and Influence Hardcover – August 13, 2010

Read for graduate school (Organizational Leadership). Great selection of past leaders and led, their individual philosophies of leading, and why they were effective, at least in their time. We compared the author/leaders and I can tell you it was a great study in why people follow as well leadership philosophy. Consider followers of Lincoln, Eichmann, Lenin, and MLK and you get the gold found in Kellerman's book. I will definitely refer to it throughout my life.

This work fuses history and literature with the author's keen insights into leadership. She finds leadership at work in areas one may have overlooked before. This leaves one thinking about leadership in a different way, conducive to a more intuitive and practical approach, rather than merely theoretically or academically.

This book has the cover for "Leadership: Essential Selections on Power, Authority and Influence..." but when I opened it up, it was called "Service Innovation" by Lance A. Bettencourt!I've never seen something like this!I needed this book in a timely manner for a course that I'm taking. Now I'm in big trouble!

I loved this book. It is basically a snippet of most of the best works by well known leaders. It is a must read for those of us that did not have a good high school course on leadership.

This is a great look at leadership. Instead of just defining it by theoretical mumbo jumbo, Kellerman actually examines history and allows leaders from history to tell us what it means to be a leader. This book is helpful to all who want to be a leader.

Great survey of historical writers with good summations on them all.

Leadership: Essential Selections on Power, Authority, adn Influence is a great source for anyone. I bought it because I am taking a class on Leadership - "Leading the Congregation" - What I love about this text is that the author mentions many famous leaders, the text they are famous for, and the parts about the text that makes it unique and memorable. There is a lot of great wisdom in this book.
