The glossy side goes out. The matte side is what is sticky.

Yes. There are versions that come with an empty magnetic strip for encoding.

Q: Do these have absolutely zero margin on the folded edge so that the whole perforated Teslin paper could fit completely within the pouch?

That is basically correct. But, because it is a folded/scored edge and not completely open you are going to end up with a very small border. You can minimize it by placing the Teslin insert in to the pouch, aligning it perfectly on one side - then fold the pouch and by almost pulling the other side of the pouch to align with the first side of the pouch you can get the insert firmly in the pouch. We recommend holding it closed like this pinched tightly until you feed it in to the laminator at which point the laminator will be holding it closed and complete the card. As mentioned, doing this will greatly reduce the amount of an edge visible - but there still may be a 0.2-0.5mm edge visible.

Q: Does the hologram go on the inside or outside of the laminate? And how do you know which side is which for the matte and glossy?

Holograms go on the outside. I'm not sure about your other question. This item is glossy. You can tell which side should face out by lightly scratching both sides your fingernail, the side that shows a line on it is the side that should face the Teslin.
