The Negotiator

Great cast. Well written screenplay. A top notch police negotiator, after being falsely accused of killing his partner, (Samuel L Jackson as Lt. Danny Roman), knows he's been set up, takes hostages and holes up in the Chicago Police Internal Investigation Services Unit . Kevin Spacey as Lt. Chris Sabian, another crack police negotiator from the North Side is called in to try to talk Danny down. Meanwhile, David Morse as the Tactical Commander, is itching to breech to save the hostages. Roman is being set up to take the fall for corruption in missing money from the Police Pension fund, His friends and fellow officers cannot be trusted. Paul Giamatti, a police snitch, is in the wrong place at the wrong time and is included in the hostages Roman controls. Incredibly funny and talented, he adds comic relief to the intense and fast moving storyline along with Danny Roman. A good book or movie will grab you in the first few minutes and have a great, if not explosive (pun intended) ending. This one comes in second to Scarface on my list of favorites. This one has great special effects, show a well trained police sniper who sympathizes with Roman. As Roman says in the movie, "We are here to find out who killed Nate and who is stealing from the pension fun, and we are NOT leaving until they found!"

I saw this movie once years ago and liked it. More than a decade later and I still like it. This movie reminds me of how great movies were in the 90s - before Hollywood went superhero crazy. Also, didn't realize that F. Gary Grey directed it. Superb job he did here. You hear in the news about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and everyone forgets about F. Gary Grey.By the way, I used to work in the building featured in the movie (77 W Wacker). Great building to work in.

The Negotiator is a fast-moving emotional story of all of the team members who thought they knew each other. Then came doubts, fear and anger when fellow officers became suspect in money laundering. No one knew who or what to believe when one respected officer was murdered. Who would be next? Was the best friend really a killer? How would officers' families be affected? Were there warning signs all along? Now there are hostages with their lives on the line and sharp-shooters at the ready to take down a crazed killer or to keep that officer from finding out the truth about his teammates! The touch and go internal battle is full of fast-flying bullets and helicopters light up the night skies like the Fourth of July. How many people will survive? Will it end like you hope? Will anyone ever know who is guilty or innocent?

i watched that movie few times already and never gets me boring.great action, great tempo of the movie, great actors.it teaches you that work place its not a family but constant battlefield (don't u ever forget that i meant it)and not all strangers or outsiders are enemies but still be careful who u trust. watch it u will love it.

Grab your popcorn and coke and make sure all bathroom trips have been taken, then pop this movie in and prepare to stay on the edge of your seat for a while. Once this movie gets going (about 20 minutes into it), it never lets you go...and clocking in at over 2 hours and 20 minutes, that's saying a lot! Kevin Spacey does an incredible job as negotiator Chris Sabian, and it would definitely be great to see him in a sequel!! Jackson does a great job as the innocent man wrongly accused, and as the tension mounts there comes a point in the movie where you just realize it's time to give up all hope for him. Although you'll probably make out the real bad guy early on in the movie, you'll also make some major false assumptions too. Nothing is as it seems in this movie, and it's not over until the credits roll so don't start relaxing too soon!

Mr. Spacey happens to be my favorite actor, and this movie just happens to be my favorite. I recently purchased just about every one of his movies from Amazon and I am certainly glad I did! Now I don't have to wait for them to appear on television. The acting in this movie is excellent; in fact, there wasn't a bad actor in it. Samuel Jackson, David Morse and Paul Giametti, to name just a few, are really terrific. I just loved the way Kevin acted and looked in this film; he was perfect - personality was absolutely great, as if that is his real personality - nice, pleasant, in control, intelligent, etc. This movie is action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There certainly isn't a dull moment in it. Don't want to give the story away - so buy the VHS!

Jackson and spacey were great two good men and one went bad and how they can solve how he was set up with out hurting innocent people. Sam is a negotiator for the police and so is kevin and sam is wrongfully accused of killing his partner and kevin has to help him with out having him go to jail for life or killing innocent people. Its fun action suspense and you will try to find out who you can trust.

Grab onto something all along the film, its permanent tension unfolds in so many aspects that is difficult to sum it all in one review. By the way the casting is gorgeous. Only thing is some psychological unreal or contested theories of truth telling but besides that this master piece creates great suspense in apple-pie order.The bonus features are ok but not required or even enjoyable... in my opinion. Enjoy the movie!
